Forever Eden - How It All Ended

Where Have Those Green Apples Gone?
I have been wondering what happened since FOX so abruptly cancelled the entertaining, albeit flawed, "Forever Eden." I enjoyed the pettiness, friendships and male bonding vs. female "girl power" which disbanded after about five minutes.

Nevertheless, I hate to have something abruptly cut off without knowing the final results. Well, now I do and I will be generous enough to share them with you.

Imagine my surprise when out of the blue, the FOX Reality Channel suddenly appeared on my Channel Guide and became available to me. I was even in for a bigger shock when it was disclosed that there would be a "Forever Eden" marathon over the weekend all the way through to the finale.

Having other social engagements, I set my DVR for hours of fun, and fun I did have.

Incidentally, the entire series was shown in the UK. Apparently, FOX thought that the U.S. audience was not worthy of watching it through the finale.

A Word About FOX Reality
This station seems dedicated to presenting old, older, and never-before seen shows. You might call it the warehouse of re-tread reality shows, or some which have never been seen in this country.

For example, I watched an episode of "The Villa." In it, four women and four men from the UK (Great Britain) take a trip to the coast of Spain which is geographically nearby. Well, closer than for us, anyway. The contestants have been computer matched but don't really know who their chosen one is supposed to be. The trouble is that no one seems to like each other except for one couple. They get to experience all kinds of great things, like sailing, rollerblading, getting drunk in clubs and yet there is no chemistry between six of them.

When the truth is revealed about their "match" on the fifth and last day, they have a good laugh because as it turns out, they would have never dreamed that they'd be paired off with the guy or girl that they disliked the most. There is only one couple that was a computer match and who hit it off in real life at Marbella.

There is a lot of resemblance between the way the women and men behave on U.S. reality shows, except for one shocking fact-they are a lot more open and unabashed about going topless or bottomless. We are the uptight ones, while the Brits are pretty damn loose. The girls are not as made up or fake as the American girls, and the guys, are just regular blokes.

Since I just started getting this channel I don't know what else is in store for me, but it looks like a mixed bag of stuff which I am more than happy to investigate. For those of you who didn't get enough of the last American Idol, they're running it all over again. Check it out.

Back to Eden
The show that was supposed to last "forever" did last almost six months in reality, and that's a very long time. As usual, the lush surroundings and romantic atmosphere was all window dressing. The participants felt trapped, ordered around by producers, and subjected to broken hearts and backstabbings.

There was an added bonus feature with each episode. They had segments called "Reality Revealed" which was a type of confessional, but actually took place after the show was filmed. Commentary by the Edenites as well as the creators of the show were very insightful and shed further light on what "Eden" was all about. It was no great surprise to see and hear that feelings had changed between people. There was one couple that surprisingly stayed together. At least they moved in together and seemed to be hitting it off when they gave their final confessional. I will save the names for later. A little surprise never hurts.

It appears as if the couples are playing "Spin the Beds" while they are eliminated one by one because of their own demeanor as well as the votes of their fellow players. Sometimes they get to take their worst enemy with them and that was always a twist that I enjoyed. They are banished and the message of doom is delivered by the crisp and almost accusatory tone of Hostess Ruth England. Her favorite phrase is: "Things are about to change…" and whatever she is told to add in order to make the guests' eyes roll and their mouths go slack with fearful apprehension.

In any case, when I rejoined the show we had the following couples: Shawna and Wallace, Kassie (the country singer) and Matt of the "Chicklet teeth," David and Liz, Adam and Brooke, Jordan the little bigmouth, the Jessica Simpson look-alike, Claudia, as well as the trashy mouthed but extremely entertaining Neveen.

Once Neveen, Jordan, and David were banished, another threesome: Dave, Ryan and Stephanie replaced them. Things always get more interesting when there's new blood in the mix. The new people were assessed and some were immediately disliked like Ryan, who did his best to help it along by being offensive. Dave was finally given the stamp of approval even though he was a bit loud at first. Stephanie came along and she was really a shocker. She was pretty, had the biggest natural boobs of any reality series and made no bones about making out with every guy on the island, whether they were someone's boyfriend or not. Going way back, Brooke was Wallace's "girlfriend" until Shawna stole him away. Claudia had Jason but he's long gone. Luckily for Brooke, Adam who is a sweet and hot guy, becomes very fond of Brooke and her heart is somewhat mended. Am I really capable of writing such drivel?

I decided to move on with the flow of events and not dredge up the past except to say that there were a lot of hard feelings, mostly from the girls' side.

The Final Four
Matt beds down with Kassie who seems to have some sort of dementia by even falling for this boring, bucktoothed boob. Her fate is on the line, but she had reached the point in the game of being able to bank her money so that she wouldn't have to give half of it away. Her own "boyfriend" Matt, campaigns against her because he has the hots for the immoral and slutty Stephanie.

Kassie, who has cried her way through this series, is once again tearful as she and her money depart. She hugs the faithless Matt who takes up with Stephanie and moves her into his bungalow. Kassie's friend Liz is aghast: the body isn't even cold yet and there is Matt carrying on with the island's resident ho.

Liz and Claudia are voted out and I'm not really sure if I recall the order correctly. It really doesn't matter because the game is nearing its ultimate end. Dave and Ryan are banished too.

Next to be banished is the brain who masterminded most of the island politics; Wallace who is leaving a shocked Shawna behind. He had always called her stupid to the other male players and decided to keep her around because it was better to get rid of the "smart girls" and guess who gets banished? Mr. Bright Boy, Wallace.

Here's who's left: Adam and Shawna. They are the final two standing.

But wait, suddenly all of the exiles return and Adam and Shawna are allowed to choose a partner and they do. Who would have thunk it; Shawna picks Wallace, and Adam, pulling a "Colby" selects Brooke who had alienated a lot of people during her stay at Eden.

The returned players have turned into the Jury. They have to select which couple, Adam and Brooke or Shawna and Wallace, will win the $250,000 prize.

I am pulling for Adam and Brooke because they seem a lot nicer than Shawna and Wallace, but this was not to be.

The winners were Wallace and Shawna! After a lot of hugging and fake congratulations, we arrived at the end of "Forever Eden."

And now for the reveal. The couple that ended up living together and on their way to becoming soulmates is----------TA DA!----------Wallace and Shawna!

And some of them lived happily ever after. The end.
