Well, this is the first week of Beth in the Captain's chair, and I for one
hope she does well. Not for her sake, but for the Veterans.
Out of no where, we see Rookie Jillian come in and she starts talking about an
alliance approach by Cara and Susie. Now, I don't really know Jillian for
she was on her show for just a few episodes as she was the last replacement
for the season, but the girl looks like she can cause some drama. I don't believe
that Susie would conspire in an alliance, but Cara is different story. I saw
Cara on her show and she tends to like to start drama and she only looks out
for number one.
Jillian goes and tells Rookie Captain Kina about her conversation with Susie
and Cara and Kina starts freaking out. Kina then tells Captain Alton and the
rest of the team, all of which decide not to let Susie or Cara have crucial
parts in their next few missions. I am all for letting the Captains know about
the alliance, for it is their heads on the block, but I also think that it's
not right to believe something on just one person's take. At least confront
them like adults and just ask them point blank.
Let's get to the challenge. It's called Team Strength, but of course the
Rookies do not demonstrate team strength as they make sure that Cara and Susie
do not have a major part in this challenge. The teams start by rolling a big
wooden ball up a hill, then pile up in a truck as Ace for the Veterans drives
and Beth and David push the truck uphill.
I am very impressed with Beth right now; she is working hard, pulling her
weight, and helping her team actually pull right next to the Rookies as they
start the next leg. The teams then pile concrete blocks in the trucks and have
to push the trucks back into the starting position on the other end of a hill.
This is where trouble starts as neither truck is moving very much, they are
just both too heavy for two people to push. So, T.J. adds two people to both
teams to help push the truck. Now for the Veterans we have Mark, Julie, Syrus,
and Beth pushing. But, something weird is going on and the rookies are moving,
but the Veterans are at a stand still. Ace is trying to figure out what's
wrong, as is everyone, but the Rookies win with the Veterans in the same spot
the started in.
Afterwards, Ace, who says he has been driving stick shifts since he was
sixteen, finds out that the clutch wasn't pushed in. Now, I love Ace, he is a
genuine Georgia boy like myself, but even I, who can't drive a stick, knows
that the clutch must be in, in order for the truck to move. Ace, then says
what everyone in America is thinking right now, "I am going into the
Gauntlet", as you should.
In the Gauntlet deliberation, there is little deliberation as Ace very nobly
volunteers himself into the Gauntlet for he knows he was the direct cause for
the lost today. Now, this is why everyone loves Southern boys, we are very
honest, fun, and stand up when we make mistakes. Ace, makes me proud and takes
it like a man.
However, someone doesn't like me as the challenge is Brawl Battle. Derrick is
very wiry and small, and Ace is very big and tall, so this challenge is going
to be a close call.
We get to the Gauntlet and things start off as Derrick gets the first point
quickly pushing Ace out of the circle, getting one of three needed points.
Next, Ace shows very good bodywork and throws Derrick out of the circle. Now,
you can tell these guys want to stay as they are pushing and pulling clothes
and rolling and wrestling, though it is not enough for Ace as Derrick gets two
for points and wins, sending Ace home.
Ace always goes out like no body else in past challenges, he picks his chin up
and always uses 95% of his good-bye time in throwing a fair well party. Hey
Ace, at least you weren't kicked off third on your third challenge.
After Ace says his good-byes and is off we go to the Rookies' quarters as
they are in a group discussion. Eventually, the topic of the "alliance" is
brought up and as predicted, Cara and Susie start trying to save their necks
and clear their names. Now, Cara comes off as the "I'm better than you and you
know it girl" and no one believes a word she is saying, but sweet little Susie
comes off as the "Little innocent girl that can't do wrong" and is appalled by
the accusation by her team.
I would probably be like Susie and try to clear my name but not in a rash and
snobbish way like Cara tries to. Of course nobody, especially Kina, believes
Cara nor Susie, but I have to say, come on people, at least give them a chance
to defend themselves, since when is it guilty until proven innocent. and we
end with Susie starting a breakdown over the whole situation.
Everyone cuts them off as they try to argue, with no one believing them and we
see Susie in the early stages of a breakdown as we rap for this week.
All I can say is that next week, things better shape up for the Rookies team
or they won't have much of a team.
