According to mtv.com/news, ‘American Idol’ season six champion Jordin Sparks is recovering after suffering an “acute vocal hemorrhage”. She says that she knew her left vocal cord was bleeding, and it could have been threatening to her career if she had ignored the problem. However, she is doing well and should be back at full-strength very soon. Jordin is super-talented, and I am really glad that this young talent didn’t suffer any permanent damage from what could have been a very serious obstacle to her career.

Will ‘Survivor’ be returning to Africa for the seventeenth season of the long-running CBS reality show? The message boards at SurvivorSucks.com have been buzzing with rumors that the new season will be filmed in Africa, and on a RealityFanForum.com message board, a member posted that the show will begin filming in the African country of Gabon in May. In an interview with USAToday.com, Jeff Probst seems to hint around everyone’s suspicions.

I hope that the rumors are true. The show has been really focused on the island setting for quite a while now, and I think it would be nice to see the show stray from those locations, because both Africa and the Australian Outback made for interesting locations in past seasons.

Is ‘Beauty and the Geek’ finished?
The fifth and current season of ‘Beauty and the Geek’ hasn’t concluded yet, but will this season be the show’s last? According to variety.com, CW executives have decided to “put the show on ice” after the ratings have taken a steep drop this season. However, they haven’t officially cancelled the show, and may be open to reviving it if the producers can devise a twist to breathe new life back into the show.

I hope the show isn’t cancelled. It’s a very enjoyable series, and while I haven’t watched this season, I know that many people have been displeased with the Beauty vs. Geeks twist that began this season. I thought the point of the show was for the Beauties and the Geeks to learn from each other, and having them compete against each other seems to undermine the entire concept of the show.
