American Idol: Who Is Going Home And Why?

Top 6 Prediction By The RTVC Staff
April 26, 2006
We're down to the Top Six on American Idol and it is a lot harder to decide who is going home tonight. Last night the Idols performed the worlds greatest love songs and they put on a great show. It's not easy to single out a particular performer; especially when America obviously does not base the vote solely on talent. So who is in the bottom three. Who should go home? Who will go home? Read on and see what the staff writers of Reality TV Calendar have to say.

Remember we add to this piece throughout the day as more writers are heard from. Stop back later and see what has been added.

Scroll down to see how we voted and why.

Should Go Home - Kellie Pickler
Will Go Home - Paris Bennett
When you get to this point in the competition it becomes even more apparent that the vote is not just about who can sing the best. No matter what you call the show, no matter what the judges say, no matter how the producers try to manipulate the competition it comes down to who America wants to win. And I am convinced that American wants an entertainer. Not necessarily the best singer. But someone who entertains them.

This week, although nobody had a horrendous performance, there will again be three talented people in the bottom three. So far only Taylor and Kellie have avoided the bottom three. I think they will be safe again tonight. Chris proved he can do something other than rock and he will be safe. Visiting the bottom three again will be Elliott, Katharine, and Paris. I think the Vanilla Kat, who bores me to tears, will squeak by again this week. That leaves Elliott and Paris. Elliott was brilliant last night but I don't see much of a fan base for him. Paris performed a song that will not appeal to her fan base. I think it is too close to call. But I have to pick one and will go with Paris; mainly because I don't think her mature style has connected with the teens.

If there is a shocker this week it will be Kellie in the bottom three but safe. But I don't really expect to see that.

Standout Of The Week - Chris Daughtry:
He proved he is not just a rocker. Outstanding performance, I want to hear it again.

Who Will Win - Kellie Pickler:
No she is not the best of the remaining six. But I am convinced she is the most popular. And that is what this is all about.

Should Go Home - Kellie Pickler
Will Go Home - Paris Bennett
Please...send Kellie home. She stretched out vocally this week, but that doesn't make up for the robotic performance. Yes, Kellie is sweet and yes she's likable, but she is not the best singer. Of course it's important that someone be a likable and charismatic performer, but Kellie is not the only one in this bunch and it would be a slap in the face to the others to say otherwise. She is a ditzy, annoying, mediocre singer, and she is not a great performer. Send her home!

Since Kellie will obviously NOT be going home, or even be in the bottom three, I think Paris will go. I was disappointed in Paris and Katharine. All through their performances, I was waiting for them to really let loose and wail their songs, but both were a letdown. I thought Katharine sounded great and Paris really flubbed her song, so I will say Paris is going.

Standout Of The Week - Elliott Yamin:
Elliott is amazing. He had such soul and his vocals were so perfect...I'd say this is one of his best performances and I was totally blown away. Go Elliott!

Who Will Win - Chris Daughtry:
I think Chris made a good comeback this week. Though I was shocked to see him in the bottom two last week, I'll wait another week or two before I really think about changing my mind (depending on what happens). Chris was excellent.
