America's Next Top Model 7: "Only The Elite Will Continue"
Episode 10 Recap by Jacob D.
November 23, 2006
Previously on America's Next Top Model:
It was time for the girls to receive some acting lessons. At said acting lessons, the girls acted crazy and then let out their emotions with Caridee shocking the room over admitted suicide attempts. After making such a breakthrough, Caridee won the challenge, one that involved acting for a silent film. It was also the time in the season when the girls were to travel and Tyra surprised them with a trip to Spain. In Spain, the girls filmed a commercial, but they had to speak Spanish and this tripped up most of them. Though Caridee gave what was deemed the worst commercial in ANTM history, Jaeda was cut for her continuing wobbly performance. 5 girls remain...who will be eliminated tonight?
After eliminations in Spain, Caridee reflects on her near miss at the previous panel. She and Michelle sit and discuss their positions in the competition and Michelle is still unsure if this is what she wants for her life. Caridee interviews that she felt relieved when Tyra pulled her photo last because she worked her butt off in this competition.
Later, the girls sit around trying to decide what to do to kill time and they call the male models from last week's assignment. Lucas, the first one they met, agrees and he meets the girls at dinner with some friends in tow. The girls flirt and have a nice time, but it's Caridee who goes the extra mile when she makes out with Victor at the condo.
The next day, the girls head off to some mysterious location. We don't actually see where they go, just them arriving there. They each take a seat among a row of chairs and Tyra joins them with the intent of discussing the harsh side of modeling with them. She starts by explaining that fashion is perhaps the toughest industry to crack. Her reasoning is that if you can't sing or act, you can take classes to perform better, but if the designers in fashion don't like your look, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. She then explains what ANTM is and says that this competition is like a coach to get you to that point where you can handle the craziness.
Tyra then decides to discuss with the girls their critiques and what they think was the hardest thing for them to hear. Michelle says it was when she was told she walks like a 4 year old in her mother's heels and says it is because she didn't know she was that bad. Caridee says this last week was harsh and that she wants to represent ANTM to the fullest and Melrose says week one was hard for her when the judges said she photographs older than she is. Eugena, showing some poise, chooses not to rip apart Tyra for the constant "dead in the eyes" critiques and instead she feels bad for having disappointed her throughout. Amanda says the toughest thing for her was hearing Mr. Jay he didn't think she should be there anymore. Tyra the Martyr makes an appearance when she coaches the girls at the end, saying she gives them tough criticisms because she wants them to succeed and she's taking the guff in criticizing them so they can do better. A cynic or pessimist would have fun with that last statement, but I'll spare you guys.
Tyra Mail: "Only the Elite will continue on in the competition. Get ready to see who will go and who will stay."
It's about that time when the girls will do their go-see challenge. The next day, the girls go to Elite Barcelona, Elite Modeling's Spain branch, where they meet director Pancho Saula. He has booked 10 designers for them to go see and they will be evaluated on how much of an impression they make. He gives the girls some pointers, one of which is that Spanish designers love girls who smile, and tells them not to be later than 6:00 when meeting back at Elite.
After Pancho gives the girls their portfolios and maps, they run out. Caridee and Eugena decide to team up when both fear they could get lost and the twins stick together as well. Melrose, the only one going it alone, is the first to hit to arrive somewhere when she goes into Sita Murt. She is beaming and strutting and Julia Cher, director of Sita Murt, loves that she took direction well. Over at Roberto Verino, director Susanan Castano is seeing Eugena and she thinks Eugena has lots of possibilities in fashion. Caridee finally stumbles onto her first go-see when she finds Sita Murt, but Julia does not like her look, citing that she is wearing too much stuff. Meanwhile, the twins still have not been to one designer and are now arguing over directions.
With Jorge Paula de Oliveira Terra, designer, Melrose is a big.....
