This week on Apprentice 5, the guys got lucky, while the girls got yucky.
The episode started as the ladies of Synergy met in the suite's kitchen, to speculate on who might be sent home, from the Gold Rush gang. Tammy was swift to defend Sean, saying that he had won, once. How that distinguished Sean from Michael - who had also won once, and Lee - who had won twice, is beyond me. Roxanne wondered if he would fire all three of them, but soon their questions were answered, as Lee and Sean came back to the suite. Everyone pretended to be sad that Michael had been fired, and Tammy hugged Sean; while Allie hugged Lee. Did Roxanne get to hug anyone? I didn't see it. That may explain her mood, later on in the episode, but I digress.
The five chatted about the boardroom, and Lee noted that being a "losing project manager" felt different. But Tammy was sure that Trump liked Lee. They toasted to being the Final Five.
The next morning, they learned the terms of the battle, as Trump met them in front of the Donald Trump Watch collection. What's next? Trump Toilet Paper? He was talking to two men, who were from Walmart and Microsoft. Trump told everyone that these two companies were the best in the world. Except Trump International, of course. Bill and Ivanka were on hand, to judge the teams. Their assignment was to create an in-store interactive display, inside a Walmart; featuring the X-box 360. The most creative display would win.
Sean loved the "360" concept, and visualized taking it to a new level: he wanted the display itself to be 360 degrees. He wanted a circular enclosure; featuring the X-box 360 logo, where the customer could walk in and learn about the product and its features. Sean was the project manager for Gold Rush, and he and Lee seemed to work and brainstorm together just fine. They found a contractor named Adrian, who promised he would have their floor done, by midnight. Ivanka visited, and listened to their concept. She said that the men seemed to be working well, together. Sean and Lee were sure they had a winner. Lee guaranteed it.
Trump's theme this week was ominous: Death to Traitors. He talked about how businessmen need to get rid of internal saboteurs.
Tammy decided to become the Project Manger of Synergy, because she wanted to prove herself to Trump. Her record wasn't any worse than Allie's - whose turn it was, if you go in order - but she seemed determined. She envisioned a Red Carpet Event. The other Synergistas seemed underwhelmed. As a matter of fact, they proceeded to be underwhelmed by every suggestion that Tammy made, throughout the entire episode. Why? I'm not sure. Though her ideas weren't that bad, and she didn't really lose her composure until the end, they seemed determined not to listen. Which isn't really like their usual mode of operation.
But that's how the construction of the display went. Tammy said Red Carpet. They said yuk. Tammy held up mirrors. They yawned. Bill visited, and Tammy explained their concept to him. Allie rolled her eyes. Bill was not amused. Tammy wasn't too amused, either. "They don't respect me as project manager," she grumbled. "This is so high school! Grow up!"
At Gold Rush, as they waited for Adrian and their floor, they were much more supportive. "Good work, mate," crowed Sean, to Lee. Lee said there it wasn't that there were some minor arguments between them; but they still loved each other. Sean said they may have their differences, but he did love Lee. He spelled out their differences: nationality, age, religion… it didn't matter. It was a Love Fest.
Not at Synergy. Tammy asked Roxanne when the banners would be ready. Roxanne, who had been placed in charge of the banners, said she didn't know. Roxanne commented that Tammy got really flustered, and stopped listening if you didn't agree with her. Tammy finally confronted her teammates. She told them that they had been rolling their eyes at her, all day, and that she was tired of not being respected by them. Both of them said they hadn't rolled their eyes. They both said this, while rolling their eyes. They admitted that they had raised their eyebrows. So Tammy was clearly wrong….THAT couldn't possibly be construed as disrespect. Right??? Tammy tried to explain why she wanted them to buy into her vision: "I want to prove myself. I want this to be about me," she flatly stated.
The Love Fest at Gold Rush was about to lose its steam, because Adrian the Floor Guy called and told them that the floor would now not be ready until at least 7am. Sean was frustrated beyond belief, but after a few minutes of yelling, he realized that he wasn't making a difference, and he needed Adrian's floor for the display. So they told him to just do his best. Lee was distraught: "this is a disaster."
