This week on The Apprentice, Donald Trump taunted the ladies of Synergy until they turned on each other, in the Boardroom.
The episode began with Sean, making dinner in the contestants' kitchen. He said he was worried about Tammy. He said that he hoped she would come back, from the Boardroom. He didn't have much hope, though, because "Allie and Roxanne lack integrity." He said that his heart was rooting for Tammy; but his head told him she would be fired.
We already knew his head was right, and he soon found out, as Allie and Roxanne returned to their home base. Sean had dinner ready, and Lee asked the ladies about the Boardroom. Allie said it had been "brutal," and asked Roxanne if she'd share a glass of wine with her. At dinner, Sean said he was upset that he had to listen to the ladies, since he was so sad that Tammy was gone.
Allie reported that Tammy had accused them of ganging up on her, but "there was no ganging up." Sean griped that he was "bored with this rubbish," and that he wanted to destroy Synergy, in the next task. Roxanne and Allie were stuck on Tammy's complaints in the Boardroom, and Roxanne wondered why she had been harder on her. Roxanne pointed out that Tammy could have said the same things about Allie; that she'd said about Roxanne. Not that they were true. Roxanne viewed the Boardroom with hindsight: "I wanted to say so much, to her."
The next morning, Sean answered the phone in his Tightie Whities. He got instructions to meet Trump for the task announcement. Joining the Donald were Donald Jr. and Ivanka. Donald greeted the Final Four, and commented that Roxanne and Allie had been a "tough team", in last week's Boardroom. He told them that they hadn't been nice, but he meant it as a compliment: "it's just business. It's not always nice." Trump then turned to the lady next to him, who held a bottle of the Trump fragrance. The bottle was supposedly shaped like Trump Tower. Trump called its design "impressive", and segued from this to talking about another company whose designs were impressive. He introduced executives from Embassy Suites hotels, whose all-suites facilities were a very big business. Both duos were charged with designing new uniforms for the employees of Embassy Suites. They would then hold a fashion show, and the employees would decide which uniforms they would use. The winner of the employee vote would win the task.
Lee decided to be the Project Manager for Gold Rush, because he saw it as his opportunity to have 3 wins. They discussed their strategy in the limo. Sean was critical of Allie and Roxanne's fashion sense, and referred to himself as a "metro-sexual". Lee admitted he didn't really know what that means, but he recognized it as a good thing, in a fashion task. The men met with the executives. Sean asked them about how they wanted their brand to be represented; on the uniforms. He asked what sort of uniforms they wanted. They said they wanted them to be crisp, stylish and wearable. Lee reminded Sean that the employees would judge their final product, so they decided to interview the employees. When they did, they discovered that a majority of the employees liked their current uniforms, but they wanted some specific changes. Lee and Sean charmingly interacted with the employees.
Synergy also began by interviewing the executives. But they also quickly moved on, to the employees. But instead of asking the employees what they wanted, they pressed their own ideas on them. Allie seemed to favor a uniform that featured culottes, in spite of the look on the housekeepers' faces that said they had no clue what those were. Allie claimed they were "in touch with designer clothes". When Ivanka came to visit, she asked which of them was Project Manager. Despite the time already spent on the task, they admitted that they hadn't decided which one would lead the task. Allie said she decided to do it, because she knew that she'd need another win, in order to have a better chance to advance in the contest. Yet despite her leadership role, she assured Roxanne that they were both "co-PMs", and that they were equal in the task.
The Gold Rush designer was Edward. Sean took their ideas and told him what they wanted to do; "Something not too far out of the box". Lee was a bit worried. He wondered if maybe the ladies would come up with "something flashy", and win the day.
They needn't have worried. Although Synergy's designer, Mark, had worked with Melania Trump, the ladies had gone in a very different direction. They told him they wanted to brighten the colors. They said that style was more important than function. Allie told Mark that the front desk uniform should have a skirt, though Roxanne was sure that the employees had asked for pants.
