The Bachelor: Did She Say Yes Or No?
Spoiler Report by Ron Lemon
May 18, 2007
The Bachelor gave us something new this season. They told us from the very beginning that Lt. Andy Baldwin would find his true love and that he would propose to her at the final rose ceremony.

Only Bevin and Tessa remain. So who is the lucky girl? And does she consider herself lucky? Will Andy get down on his knee for Bevin or Tessa, and what will she say?

There are a lot of rumors out there and some hard information. One of the rumors, circulating mostly in Hawaii is that Bevin gets is offered a ring and say "Yes". Sorry Bevin fans but that one is just not true.

I reported last week on a "drunken" conversation that Tessa had with a New York Post reporter. To quickly refresh, here's what went down:

Tessa spilled the beans telling the reporter that she received the final rose. She also admitted that Andy did propose to her. But, she did not accept his proposal! She also says they are "still together".

But things have changed since then. But first a little further confirmation. At a presentation to ABC advertiser's and local affiliate managers a video montage of this season's ABC programming was shown and the clip from the Bachelor showed Andy and Tessa in a loving embrace after the final rose ceremony. ABC confirmed it "spoiler" the result. So we know it is Tessa that he will propose to. But does she accept or was it "No", but the are "still together"?

Earlier this week Andy, and an ABC handler, participated in a telephone interview with the press. Here are a few notable quotes:

"Bevin and Tessa are both amazing women. Bevin is not afraid to share who she is, she wears her emotions on her sleeve. I think that's what I love about her and what I think is so admirable. She's very open to showing her affection and emotions and I'm an affectionate person, so we had a lot of chemistry from the get go. Tessa on the other hand is very grounded; she had skepticism and doubt from the beginning. Her and Bevin were best friends in the house which they didn't really show, but it played out in the end. I saw a lot in her and I was falling for her. I started having doubts. And I think she had doubts as well. It was kind of like a game when we were in LA, but once we got to Hawaii, it became much more real."

"It got really hard with the last three. I wasn't acting. There's a reason that those three were the last three. Each had different qualities that I really liked that I thought would be compatible. My emotions were overwhelmed and I couldn't stress enough how much time I needed with each of them to figure it out."

Confirming that he has indeed found love Andy said "I can't wait. It's so hard right now because we're watching this and all these emotions come back and we're tired of watching what happened in the past and are so looking forward to moving on as a couple and in the future. All I can say is our love for each other has grown for each other more and more since the finale. We know each other so much better now than we did after the finale. We've seen each other three times since the finale and talk for hours and hours on the phone everyday. Were so excited to be able to finally go out in public as a couple and fall in love with each other all over again in the real world."

Andy was asked to confirm that he proposed to one of the girls and at the point his ABC handler jumped in and said, "All we can say is that he is engaged to the woman that he proposed to and you'll find out who it is on Monday. The woman he proposed to said yes and he's very happily engaged."

So that contradicts the New York Post report that quoted Tessa as saying she said "No" to the proposal. Or perhaps not. Maybe she said no at the final rose ceremony and has since said yes. We won't know that until Monday night.

But what of their future?

Andy says, "No wedding date is set. The first step is her moving here and us being together, living together in the real world and falling in love with each other again and living a normal life outside The Bachelor world. But we're both very happy and optimistic."

So there you have it. It is Tessa and they are engaged. Will it last?

We'll see.
