Tonight was a two hour deal. The first hour is spent in review of last week with a few added 'takes' which weren't put into the initial 1 hr viewing. The network hype led us to believe that there would be more unseen footage than it actually was. For that part, I was disappointed. I think more of the duplicated scenes, which we saw in the premiere episode, could have been left out and more stuff we didn't see put in. But, I'm not the producers. Just a recapper. Still, so far, so good, in my opinion, with this season's Bachelor.
You know how sometimes you just instantly like something. That's the way I am feeling about this season with 'The Bachelor'. I like Travis so far. I like the women. This means that we are being given more interactive scenes. The women's personalities are being edited in...instead of out as in so many of the previous bachelor series. Getting a feel for the women is paramount the way I see it. It makes them more real, more human and even more like the average woman out there seeking a compatible mate.
FIRST HOUR:
Previews of tonight's episode and upcoming ones which will be a repeating staple over and over and over. Reviews of previous 'Bachelor/Bachelorette' series. This part was fun. I kinda wish a bit more time had been devoted to this section. It included the good, bad, ugly followed by success clips.
Scenes from other Countries and their version of 'The Bachelor' were shown. This was cool. Could have used some more time here as the rest was a re-rehash of last week's episode of our 'The Bachelor' series.
We do get a sad story but, also insightful as to Travis' life in the ER. He tells the story of a little boy who eventually passed away in the hospital. It made Travis more human and he realized there comes the time when the line becomes no longer just a medical professional and goes into the human aspect.
We learn that Travis was having beers and dinner with friends at a local hang out when casting spotted and recruited him. Travis turns them down at first. His sister lays down the law and gives Travis orders to go do the show. And, that, in a nutshell, is how Travis comes to be this season's bachelor... and in Paris.
Next, we're treated to more Paris scenery as Travis makes his way around the city.
Then, we get a rewind of the initial meeting of all 25 women. Just a few additional unseen sound-bites, but, other than that... simply last week revisited.
Recalling Allie G, the rejected oncologist doctor. More reproductive speeches. Allie goes on to tell others how many 'big dollars' she gave up to come there. To the tune of $1500 per day. Whoa. That is a lot of bucks. But, it was her choice. She just probably didn't anticipate on being in the first cut. Ahhh well. That's life. We're also given a tad more of Travis comments to Allie. Mainly that she is a nice person, just not on the same page with the 'reproductive' avenues. And, she shouldn't take it personal. Allie G, not take it personal? No way as we, the viewers, know.
SECOND HOUR
Again, a recap. These recaps really became tiresome tonight.
Finally, we get to the fresh material. The 12 remaining hopefuls arrive at their temporary residence. A country manor as Chris terms it. The women oooh and ahhh over it. Pretty posh setting I'd say. They go about the inspection and scope out strategic locations to watch from as dates happen.
Chris calls them outside to explain what's to happen.
There will be 2 group dates and 1 one on one. The one on one will be Kristen since she was the last one chosen at the first rose ceremony last week.
Also, during each date scenario, a single rose will be present. The recipient will not have to suffer through the next actual 'rose ceremony'. Now, the one who is on a one on one date, at any given time, will either get the rose or not. If not, she will be sent packing back home that night. I'd say at the beginning that most would want to be on the group dates. Don't ya think?
