Big Brother 7: The 20 Hamsters Revealed?
Report by Big Sister
June 7, 2006
|
Did CBS accidentally, and very briefly, reveal the identities of the 20 previous house guests that will be voted in or out of the house by all of us diehard fans? Maybe, in fact Big Sister is going to tell you probably. I've been holding onto this for a couple of days while I snooped around and watched the story develop. I'll tell you all about it, but before we get there let's review what we know for sure.
CBS announced that the seventh installment of Big Brother will return this summer with an "All-Star" version. For the first time ever in Big Brother history worldwide, America will help choose who will participate in the game from among a pool of 20 of their favorite former house guests from all six seasons.
Julie Chen returns as host.
Big Brother - All-Stars will reunite some of the most memorable, entertaining and controversial house guests from previous Big Brother seasons as they compete for the $500,000 grand prize among a group of people who could potentially consist of previous champions and some of the series' best personalities. Once again, America will be able to see the people they love… and the people they love to hate!
Yeah, that's the official word from Arnold and company. We also know that the Juliebot will have her very own special on June 21st. CBS announced it like this:
"For the first time in Big Brother history worldwide, viewers will vote on which former HouseGuests will compete in Big Brother: All-Stars. On CBS, Wednesday, June 21 at 8PM ET/PT, Julie Chen will unveil the top 20 candidates from seasons past. Web voting opens on the CBS site after the show at midnight ET/9PM PT. The polls close Wednesday, June 28 at 11:59PM ET/8:59PM PT.
That brings us up to date with the official word. Now the fun stuff.
RTVC staff writer Brendan Moore was snooping around the official BB7 site and was very surprised at what he saw. Smart guy that he is he quickly copied it off his browser window and sent it to me. Here's what he sent:
Did you see the leak on the CBS web-site!!
If you go to the Big Brother page it has a glitchy list of 20 people set up like a poll.
These are the twenty people listed:
Alison
Amy
Brittany
David
Diane
Drew
Erica
Jack
James
Janelle
Jason
Josh
Kaysar
Maggie
Mike
Monica
Nicole
Roddy
Shannon
Will
Well as soon as I got his email I hit the site....and it was gone! Nothing listed at all; in fact the site is nothing but a meaningless placeholder at the moment.
So what happened? Here's Big Sister's take.
Obviously the twenty potential house guests have already been decided. Big Brother had to get them signed on months ago. I think the people who run the CBS site were given the list of 20 potential roomies and have begun preparing the poll that we will all vote in. And in the midst of that preparation they screwed up. They actually placed a part of the poll on the live-on-the-web site. It was there briefly, but it was there. And then....
Yesterday a second poll showed up, again it was there briefly. And this time the list was slightly different. I believe this second "glitch" was intentional misdirection. A cover-up for the first mistake. Then again, the first could have been Big Brother having a little fun with us. He does have a twisted sense of humor. But Big Sister's gut is telling her the first list is real and was an honest mistake.
You can bet Big Brother wants certain people in the cast to insure some drama, not to mention hissy-fits, hysterics, scheming, back-stabbing, betrayal, and the under-the-cover rendezvous that the fans love. That's why all of us viewers will only get to vote in six members instead of the 12 total hamsters for this season. After we select our six, BB will announce the six they are selecting to insure maximum mayhem.
For the most part I love the list. There are some people on there who I genuinely like. I'm happy to see Erica, Jack and Will on the list. But honestly I am even happier to see some slime on the list. Notably Head-Maggot Maggie and Reality TV Whore Allison. What will happen if Drew and Diane are reunited? Should Kaysar be given a third chance? Will he finally get a clue and play the game? Will Mike and Kaysar align? There is such wonderful potential for a good versus evil confrontation that it is sure to turn ugly. I love it! I can't wait!
And finally, before I go check out Big Brother trash cans, RTVC wants me to pass along the message that they are looking for a recapper for Big Brother All Stars Thursday night episodes. If you are interested you can contact the editor at Editor@RealityTVCalendar.com.
Because of her sisterly relation to her "Big Brother" it's really important that Big Sister's identity remain covert - we wouldn't want the parental unit getting wind of her snooping and "ground" her. Fortunately around here they can keep a secret much better than most of the major networks!
