Big Brother 7 All Stars: Kaysar's Play - Are Morals A Liability?

Commentary by Big Sister
July 17, 2006
Big Brother 7 All Stars has already achieved a higher level of tension and stress for the hamsters than any previous season. That is to be expected when you consider the 14 house guests who made the All Stars. With one or two exceptions they are the best of the best. The best at playing the game. But how should the game be played?

Should you check your morals and ethics at the door? Should you lie, manipulate, betray to win? Or should you strive for honesty and integrity even if it means losing the game? I'm not the first to ask the question. But a very thoughtful note I received from Ivette in New York has prompted me ask you the reader what you think.

Here is what Ivette had to say:
"As much as I like Kaysar, I too believe that he is somewhat of a weak player. I believe that he could be the best player in the bunch but he is not allowing himself to become what is needed to get to the end.

He could make it, but right now I can't envision him sitting in the final two (as much as I would like to see him there). His game play must be changed. He wants to play this game with morals and while I can understand and hope he makes it far by playing this way, I also know that will be very difficult to do in a game such as this one. Kaysar has to find a happy medium between his morals and how flexible he is willing to become in terms of the game.

This is a game is about two things, money and fame. Kaysar is making chess moves but his is not a game that you play in your backyard and the winner walks away empty handed. This chess game is for $500,000 and a bunch of residual checks and who knows what can come after.

While Kaysar shouldn't have to check his convictions at the door, everyone is competing for a check. With this in mind, Kaysar has to be aware that while this is somewhat of a moral-less game, it is not how he lives his life."

So what do you think? Can you be honest and win this game? Should you try to be ethical or is it a waste of time? What is more important, winning or how you play the game? And what about Kaysar's play? Is it moral? Ethical? Honest? We'll gather your comments and post them, as well as mine, in a future article.

Because of her sisterly relation to her "Big Brother" it's really important that Big Sister's identity remain covert - we wouldn't want the parental unit getting wind of her snooping and "ground" her. Fortunately around here they can keep a secret much better than most of the major networks!
