Big Brother 7 All Stars: Are People Going To Walk Out Of The Game?

Commentary by Big Sister
July 25, 2006
Big Brother 7 All Stars is like no other season of Big Brother. They have all been there and done that and most of them seem to think they are something special. And truthfully they are. For the most part these are the twenty best hamsters to ever play the game.

Spoiled Hamsters
But in some ways they are taking it too far.

They are spending a good deal of time demanding things from Big Brother. Openly calling for better food, more money, more prizes and generally and easier time of it while they are in the house.

Several of them have made it obvious they are not there to win the game; they are there simply for the exposure, the TV time, in an attempt to further their careers. I don't mind that they want to promote themselves. Everybody wants to advance and have a better life. I do mind that they are doing it at the expense of the game and the TV entertainment. It is boorish, obnoxious, and annoying behavior.

And of course every time they start talking about how they want something from Big Brother, or how they are not being treated the way they deserve, or how they are going to screw things up for the show; then the feeds get cut. It happens too often and sometimes people are doing it intentionally just to piss of the live feed watchers. Dr. Will is a good example of this. He is constantly singing. They have to cut the feeds when someone sings because they don't have clearance to broadcast the songs. Even over the internet. Big Brother has warned Will of this dozens and dozens of times. He continues to do it simply to annoy people.

Fortunately he can't do it constantly and the feeds are still giving us the real Big Brother show. Not just what Big Brother wants us to see on CBS.

Here's an example of how Marcellas feels about things and I guarantee you it will not be aired on the show.

Marcellas is whining to Chicken George, telling him that he "thought it would be fun in the house this time…not so stressful." He tells George that he can't take it anymore, that he didn't "sign up for Survivor." George changes the subject by asking how Marcellas thinks the show is doing, how the audience perceives it. And Marcellas says, "Honestly George, I could give a shit, I used to be a company man but now….." At that point the feed was cut. I have to ask, if Marcellas could give a shit about the audience, why should the audience give a shit about him? Does he really expect that his whining childish behavior is going to win him fans for his House Calls show?

The Sequester Issue
First let me preface this by saying that I have heard that the stipend the hamsters are getting this year is $4,000.00 a week for being on the show. If they make the jury it goes up to $5,000.00 a week for the time they spend in sequester. That is more than most American's make and there are thousands of people who would love to receive that for playing a game. Even a game as intense as Big Brother.

But so far, Will, Mike Boogie, Danielle, Jase and Marcellas have all said on the feeds that they would not go to sequester. They would refuse to participate in the show any further. You won't see that on a regular episode either. And of course these are all people who have realized they have no chance of winning the game.

Marcellas tells Danielle, "I wont' do it, I won't go to sequester I won't do it...and the feeds are cut again.

Danielle tells Marcellas that "he (Mike Boogie) doesn't want to go to sequester either, in other seasons people wanted to go, but send me back to work and family. What if you hit sequester at week six, you there for two months."

That would be two months on a Mexican beach at $5,000.00 a week. Yeah life is hard for the hamsters.

I can understand that they miss their families. I can understand that they are concerned about jobs and careers. But each and every single one of them signed up for this. They more than anyone else knew what it was like, what it was about, and what was required of them. They all volunteered. They all wanted a shot at the money and a little more fame. And now that some of them have realized they have no chance to win they are whining and complaining like spoiled children.

Of course CBS will threaten them. They have to make an effort to enforce the contract that these people agreed to. But in the end Big Brother can not abduct them and spirit them away to Cabo. So what happens if one or more of the four who say they will not go - do not go? We have two more evictions before sequester begins. That means there may be three that refuse to go? How would it affect the game? What would CBS do? And should the people who are actually playing the game like good little hamsters start planning for it? What plans could they make?

We'll know in a couple of weeks. I hope it's just all talk. And considering the people involved, maybe that is all it is.

Because of her sisterly relation to her "Big Brother" it's really important that Big Sister's identity remain covert - we wouldn't want the parental unit getting wind of her snooping and "ground" her. Fortunately around here they can keep a secret much better than most of the major networks!
