Celebrity Fit Club: Will Screech Quit? We Can Hope

Episode 2 Recap by Travis H.
April 30, 2007
Last week on the fifth season premiere of "Celebrity Fit Club" we were introduced to the eight semi-celebrities that will be competing for the $150,000 in prizes this year. This season the celebrities have been divided up into two teams; the men versus the women.

Dustin Diamond proved to be even more annoying as himself than he was as Screech, the character he played on "Saved by the Bell". In fact, he's quickly made a complete ass of himself by attempting to pick a fight with classy "American Idol" alum, Kimberley Locke right off the bat. Rap artist Da Brat lived up to her name by acting more like a 15 year old girl than someone her own age. Ross the Intern also sounds and acts like a 15 year old girl but he isn't quite a brat; not yet anyway.

We learned that both Maureen McCormick and Cledus T. Judd are trying to recover from some difficult years of their lives. Former pop princess Tiffany just wants to lose enough weight so her thighs no longer rub together when she walks and Warren G proved he was serious about the competition by winning all of the first four fit camp challenges.

It is day 17 of the competition when this episode begins and the celebrities are being taken to the remote Big Rock Creek Camp to compete by day and hopefully bond by night. This week's fit camp is a demanding three mile hike through rough terrain at an elevation of over 5,000 feet. Each team will have to navigate with a compass to find the right trail and avoid any wrong turns. Hopefully Screech's compass will break so he'll take a wrong turn in the woods and get eaten by a bear. In addition, the celebrities will also face two team building challenges and compete for an elliptical trainer and a strength trainer for the home.

Most obnoxious person on Reality TV.
Before the hike begins, the celebrities are taught how to use the compasses provided. Both Kimberley and Maureen are having a difficult time figuring it all out. Sadly, Screech looks thrilled and says he's been reading compasses since he was a kid and this challenge is going to be easy. It looks as if my little dream of Screech's untimely demise isn't going to happen.

After the teams are given instructions to help them find the correct trail to begin, the guys group together and head off with the girls following. Screech says the girls should follow him if they want to win, but Kimberley thinks it would be a better idea if the girls all go back to the beginning and start there and start right.

After the girls finally get on course, they come across their first team building exercise. The challenge is to get all four members of the team over a rope about waist high without ever breaking contact with one another. After a few false starts, Kimberley comes to the rescue by reaching back to her school cheerleading days for a solution and got her team over the rope and back on the trail. That's my girl!

On the other side of the mountain, the men came across their first team building exercise. In the men's first challenge, the team has to build bridges out of boards and cinder blocks. The cinder blocks were already laid out and the team had to use all of the equal length boards to make the bridges and connect them from block to block. The boards aren't long enough to connect the cinder blocks, so Cledus finally cracks the code and realizes the rules didn't state that only one board could be used for each bridge. The guys overlap the boards so they are long enough to make a bridge to each block and eventually complete the course. Thanks to Cledus, the guys completed the challenge much quicker than I expected.

With the first of each team building exercises completed, both teams are tackling the grueling steep trek to the summit of the mountain. The women reach a point where there is an intersection of two separate trails. Their instructions say to go 250 degrees west and if they come across a wooden cross they are to turn around as they have taken the incorrect trail. Here's hoping the girls learned how to use that compass! They finally decide to take the trail that is leading downhill and Maureen is concerned they are going in the wrong direction, but they all decide to keep going down the trial they've already started. Eventually they come across a wooden cross and have to turn around because they've taken the wrong trail.

With the women off track things are looking good for the men until the steep trail and high altitude start to get the best of Warren. While the guys slow down to wait for Warren, Kimberley is getting the girls back on the right path and making up some valuable time. Somehow she's learned how to use the compass. As both teams cross at the summit, it's anyone's race. It could all come down to the final team building exercise for each team.

This time around the girls reach.....
