Recap by Teri Campbell

This episode starts at cheerleading practice with only 25 days to go until Regionals. Saleem, the choreographer, believes the girls are coming into this with a big head. They've won the last 2 National competitions so they may not be taking it as seriously as they should be.
Ryan is ready to turn 16 and can't wait to get her driver's license. Donna, her mom and coach, tries to reinforce the importance of reading the documentation so that she will pass this driver's test. Ryan is more into talking on the phone with her boyfriend than studying. Donna and Mike, Ryan's parents, are planning a surprise Sweet Sixteen party for her. They take time together to get all the details down.
With only 23 days to go Kaitlin has injured her hand and cannot participate in Regionals. Kaitlin's mom wants her still to practice; the coach thinks she needs to sit out if that is what the doctor says. The other girls continue to practice as Kaitlin watches but they are having difficulties mastering the routines.
Chelsea takes time out to get her nails done with Nicole. Chelsea calls her mom on the phone to check in and we learn that while they get along, they don't see each other much. Nicole's boyfriend hates Chelsea and wishes that Nicole would stop hanging out with her. Chelsea can't take it and leaves Nicole to be with her boyfriend. Nicole lets us know this hurts her deeply.
Now 22 days of practice and we find that we need 8 girls who can do punch fronts. Finding girl #8 has been tough. Girls are trying but no one is hitting it.
21 days until Regionals. The girls are in their own little world and find it hard to stay focused. Chelsea realizes that every year it gets harder and harder. Saleem realizes that they have so many novices on the team it might be difficult for the rookies to put it all together. The seniors all take time for a meeting. They just chat about the ups and downs of cheerleading. Kaitlin tells them that there is only 3 weeks until Regionals and the other girls look at her in amazement.
Back at Chelsea's house we find Chelsea's mom calling her to the kitchen for a talk about lying. They talk about the rules that Chelsea is supposed to follow, but doesn't. She is very rude to her mother and wants to do things her own way and doesn't really care what her mom thinks. She tells her mom how she'll be out and on her own in a year and a half and she can't WAIT until she can get out. Her mom is hurt by all this. However, her mom let's this behavior continue so there isn't really a lot to discuss.
15 days until Regionals. Every night until the competition the girls will practice in some capacity. Megan and Alexa are sisters and both on the squad. Megan is a senior while Alexa is only a sophomore. Alexa finds it hard to follow in Megan's footsteps. At their house we see their mom taking pictures of the 2 girls in uniform before they head off for "Senior Night", a night where the school recognizes all the seniors at a football game. Alexa is a bit saddened that her mom seems so close to Megan, and tends to leave her out. That should all change once Megan goes off to college.
All the girls have a blast cheering at the last football game of the year. Eric, Ayrica's dad, is on the sideline being asked what position his son plays on the football team! He tells them how his daughter is a cheerleader and he finds the same training and ailments of a football player go along with cheerleading.
Later that night Donna wraps up a purse that Ryan said she wanted so much as her "big" present. Then mom recollects on DVD's that have recordings of her little girl from years past. Mom gets a little tear in her eye.
The next morning we wake up and find Ryan ready to go get her permit. Donna gives Ryan her present, the purse, and lets Ryan think this is the only gift she will get. Ryan is truly happy to see the purse.
Over at Chelsea's house we find that her mom is still pissed at her staying out and not calling. Cindy, Chelsea's mom, thinks that her daughter is pushing her away but she just keeps showing back up.
Flash back to Ryan and Mike, her dad, going to the DOL to get the driver's permit. Switch to Nicole and Chelsea realizing that they are moving apart because Nicole has a boyfriend. Chelsea needs to get over it. Ryan arrives at school to show everyone her permit. Her locker is decorated, roses and presents stuffed inside the locker.
We fast forward to cheer practice where we find Ali in a cast! She is out for the season. Kaitlin has decided to suck it up and perform, hurt fingers or not. At the end of practice Donna pulls Ryan right out and takes her home to change and meet her boyfriend. Saleem gets all the cheerleaders together and tells them to meet at the clubhouse. Ryan thinks that the family is going out for dinner. At the clubhouse everyone waits for her and as she arrives she realizes that everyone is there to share in her Sweet Sixteen party. Mom sheds a little tear. Just when you thought it couldn't get better, Mom and Dad take her out front to receive her brand new car, courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa. She is moved to tears and hugs her mom to tell her how happy she was. A final picture of all the cheerleaders at the party is taken to put another memory in the scrapbook.
There is much more drama from the girls, their parents and the coaches so I'll see you here next week for more Cheerleader Nation.
