Canada's Next Top Model: Previewing Canada's First Next Top Model

The moment we've all been waiting for, or at least, Canadian Top Model freaks, is almost here. I am ecstatic as I wait for the season to begin and I'm fairly certain it's going to be a killer season.
My name is Brandon and I will be your guide through the dense jungles of British Columbia as we embark on our trip towards crowning Canada's - first - Next Top Model. Please keep all hands, feet, and opinions inside the bus at all times.
To start the season, I figure it would be best to go through a run-through of our lucky ladies, even though City TV has released very, very little information on the contestants, I'll piece together what I can. They have also released photos - though very small and bad quality - of our girls. We'll publish good quality photos here at RTVC as soon as they are available.
Our first contestant is Alanna, a 19 year old waitress from Kelowna, British Colombia. She loves to be outdoors, hiking, skiing, and of course (as requires), she loves to act (in other words, she'll be a camera hog). Alanna was one of my initial favourites, she has a very girl-next-door look about her, which could either help her or not, it depends on how she stands out in the competition. I hope she makes it far.
Next, we have Andrea, a 19 year old cashier from, wait for it, PRETTY MUCH MY HOMETOWN. Ahem, sorry for that, but I felt it needed recognition. She lives in Whitby, Ontario, and for the information it consumes more doughnuts per capita than anywhere else in the world. I wonder if she eats doughnuts. I have to give her props for making it this far, definitely, but I really don't like the headshot she gave, and I hope she can make it at least unit the makeover (here's hoping we have one!).
Moving on to Brandi, a 22 year old actor from Vancouver, British Colombia; she, of course, loves to act, to ski, and to model. My initial impression was that she was going to be very catty, a la Jade of ANTM Cycle 6. However, she has a very beautiful photograph and like her first-impression counterpart, I expect her to make it far.
Dawn is a 22 year old Bartender from Calgary, Alberta. She likes to dance, read, and to go out with friends. She has the possibility to go either way, in terms of 'normality'. She can either be the down-to-earth, "go away, I'm reading" girl, or the more preferred party girl. Both of them could harm her and despite her beautiful skin tone and how gorgeous she is, I expected her to go home early.
Heather is a 20 year old factory worker from Blenheim, Ontario. Though, according to her Yahoo! 360 page (I feel like I'm on the Apprentice, product placement), she lives in 'small town', Ontario. She likes to spend time with her friends and family and to be outdoors. She has a very large pre-show fan base (mainly from her hometown), which could be a good sign, but I don't see a blonde winning the show. However, I think she is very beautiful and if she makes it to the makeovers and gets her hair dyed, I think she could make it pretty far.
Our next lady is Natalie, 22 year old Internet Fraud Security (Officer?) from New Westminster, British Columbia. She loves trends in technology, which is enough to make me say she wins, but I feel that she will be one of the first few girls sent packing. Her hair isn't as flattering as it could be and could look a bit better. However, I think she looks very good in her photographs and wouldn't mind seeing her stick around.
Sisi, a 23 year old student from Richmond, British Colombia, reminds me a little of Devon Aoki, who is talented in her own right. She has a very different look and her face is gorgeous. However, there are a few girls who stand out more than her, I feel, and I don't think she'll make it to the end.
I think Sylvie has a shot to win it all. She is a 23 year old student from Sherwood Park, Alberta who likes to travel. I'm still sticking to my 'a-blonde-will-never-win' belief, but that fact that they stuck her smack-dab in the middle of the group shot (where she really stands out) gives me a slight feeling she will be around for a while. I wouldn't mind seeing her win, because I think she is very striking, but I don't want to see her win.
Tenika is a 23 year old student from Newmarket, Ontario (which is very close to my hometown, too). She likes to travel and read. I don't know whether it is just her makeup, but she looks very drowsy in her headshot and I don't find it very appealing. She is another girl I would like to see make it to the end for hometown pride purposes, but I don't see it happening. I think she will go sooner, rather than later.
And finally the gorgeous Ylenia, who is another one of my favourites. She is a 23 year old background dancer in movies and television, from Vancouver, British Colombia. Her face is absolutely breathtaking, accompanied by gorgeous teeth. She loves to act, so I'm definitely not hoping she'll be the first diva of the show.
So, there you have it! My little pre-show ramblings you'll have to live with for the next few weeks. Looking over the statistics, we have five hopefuls from B.C., three from Ontario, and two from Alberta. This is rather weird, in my opinion, even though these three provinces are highly populated, I'd expect at least one person from the East Coast.
According to an article I read, Tricia Helfer (our gorgeous hostess) was rather 'disappointed' with how polite and courteous the girls were to each other the first week. Uh-oh. I knew Canadians were nice (hey, I am one, after all), but I don't want to see anybody apologizing for taking the better picture! Hopefully the prodigies will turn it around and become cats, snakes, and rats early on in the show.
I, for one, am dying to see some more Top Model drama and catfights. I'm also dying to know what you think of the lovely ladies. Who's your favourite? Least favourite? Do you know any of the girls? Are you opposed to me already? I'd love to hear it, just send me an email.
