Canada's Next Top Model: The Real World Scoreboard
By Matt C.
July 12, 2007
Well, in the end, it was a great season.
I have to admit, towards the beginning, I was a little unsure as to whether the models could step it up and deliver, but towards the end, I was rooting for everyone in the final four.
But there could only be one winner.
Rebecca was the lucky one. I know I said I thought Tia would win last week, but in the end, I said that Rebecca was (this) close to being in the top spot, so I technically wasn't all that wrong. I did call a 2nd place finish for Sinead and a 4th place spot for Tara.
This week, I'm not ranking the contestants by how they've placed in the competition, because it's pretty straight forward, but instead, I will be ranking them based on how successful I think they will be after the show, in modelling that is.
That being said, this is how I rank the top ten ladies for the future:
Rebecca
1 - Placed: 1st
I know in the past, the most successful contestants don't usually win, but I think Rebecca could be the exception to the rule. She's got everything a top model needs, and now that she's mastered commercial, she's a triple threat (Runway, High Fashion, Commercial). I wish her all the luck in the future, because she deserves success like no other.
Tara
2 - Placed: 3rd
Tara just needs a little more confidence in herself. Her and Tia weren't eliminated because they were bad, but merely because they weren't as strong as Rebecca and Sinead. Tara is a fierce runway walker, and takes a strong picture (most of the time), so I expect to see her around soon enough.
Mo
3 - Placed: 6th
Mo isn't a great model in pictures. She was however, one of the strongest walkers. Her beauty on the runway would be unstoppable. She wasn't right for the prizes in Canada's Next Top Model. Plus, she's determined. This one is going far on the runway, that's for sure.
Jacqueline
4 - Placed: 9th
This one is tricky, because we didn't see a ton of Jacqueline, but it's safe to say her elimination was grossly unfair. Both her pictures were great, and she didn't seem to have a ton of trouble with the runway. The excuse the judges made for eliminating her was ridiculous, and she definitely deserved to go farther than she did. I wish her all the best in the future.
Sinead
5 - Placed: 2nd
As good as she is, I don't think Sinead should be a model. She strikes me at the type who would be good at anything she does, and I have a feeling she could do anything else with her life and be great at it. I don't think she has the passion for modelling,, and I don't think she wants it enough. I wouldn't be surprised to see her as an actress in the future, and I have a feeling she can sing. Who knows?
Mika
6 - Placed: 10th
Mika had a horrible attitude. Having said that, she was a great model. I think with a slight attitude shaping, she could be in a magazine very soon.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tia
7 - Placed: 4th
Tia was getting stronger and stronger each week, but I still don't know exactly what market I would put her in. If she sticks to modelling, she could have a good career. She's hilarious though, and I wouldn't count out acting. She was my favourite from the beginning, and I wish her a ton of luck.
Gina
8 - Placed: 7th
Gina was really pretty, charming, and sassy. In the end though, she wasn't a top model. She's Catalogue with a capital C, but I don't see her on the runway.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steff
9 - Placed: 8th
When it came down to it, Steff was an actress, not a model. She didn't photograph incredibly well, and her runway walk was just average. She was fun to watch though, which is why I suggest a different career path.
Cori
10 - Placed: 5th
I wish her all the best, but I really don't recommend modelling for her. Cori was just too young and inexperienced to enter the modelling world yet. She claims the school thing didn't work for her, but she needs to try again. I worry that if she falls into modelling and has a breakdown, the results will be terrible. Time will tell.
Well here are the ten models who competed to become Canada's next top model. Did the right person win? I think so, but it's too early to call.
If anyone has any news as to how the models are doing right now, or any future projects that they may be doing, please email me. My e-mail is at the bottom of this article.
It's been fun recapping for you guys, and if you like what I've written, check out my Canadian Idol scoreboard, or my Biggest Loser scoreboard this fall.
