So You Think You Can Dance: We've Got Out Top 10!
Episodes 13 & 14 Recap by Jenny Lane
July 20, 2007
Last time on So You Think You Can Dance, the seven remaining couples performed for judges Nigel, Mary and guest judge Adam Shankman. Anya and Danny found themselves in the bottom three yet again. The judges keep saving them and America keeps putting them in the bottom - who says this is up to America to choose their favorite! Shauna and Cedric also landed in the bottom three, which was ironic since Mary had finally decided that Cedric deserved to stick around. The last couple was Jamie and Hok.

After the six dancers in the bottom danced their solos, the judges made their decisions. Shauna was eliminated because the judges didn't think that she has shown as much growth as the other dancers. Cedric's luck finally ran out, and he was also sent home.

This week's performance show opens as usual. First, an introduction of the 12 remaining dancers, each of them dancing a cute little intro as their name is called out, followed by a short group dance, and then a nod to host Cat Deeley and the judges. Joining Mary and Nigel at the judging table this week is choreographer Wade Robson.

Cat reminds us that next week, everything will change because the couples are going to be changed around. Nigel says that this week is a big week, because the dancers that survive and make it to the top ten are the ones that go on the road and do the tour. Mary says that it's still anyone's game this season, last year there was a "runaway horse" but this year there isn't.

The first dancers tonight are Sabra and Dominic. This week, they chose the Jive with choreographer Tony Meredith. Their Jive is to "I Do the Jerk" by Ryan Shaw. Sabra looks great in a cute little pink sparkly dress. The jive is cute, but they don't look as good as they have other weeks. I think that Dominic actually looks better than Sabra, and I expected it to be the other way around. They do a fun lift at the end that looks a little like a figure skating lift, spinning around with her lifted above him.

Wade says that they gave 100% commitment and focus, and have a lot of positive energy. Mary says it was a great way to start the show, but to be careful on some of the kicks, because they were too far away from their bodies. Nigel says that nobody anticipated them to do so well when this started. He calls them the best partners as far as working together, with perhaps the exception of Benji and Heidi from last season.

The next couple is Jamie and Hok. Last week, Cat mentioned that there might be some romance brewing between them, and she hinted about it again this week. Jamie tells us that during her solo last week, she slit her foot on the floor. She says it didn't bother her right away, but after the show she caught it on something and it started to bleed a lot.

This Jamie and Hok chose Broadway with choreographer Tyce Diorio. Tyce's assistant is last season's contestant Travis. They're dancing to Mr. Bojangles from the play Fosse, so they both have to get into character. The dance is really well done, but it reminds me a little too much of all of the other "story based" dances that have been done. Hok mentioned in the clip before the dance something about the hummingbird dance from a few weeks ago, and it reminds me of that. There are a lot of leaps and moves that are great for Hok. He's till one of my favorites though, and I love watching him dance.

Wade tells Jamie that she's starting to step out from the pack now, and she's an elegant dancer. Wade tells Hok that if he hadn't have said in the clip that he was portraying an old man, it wouldn't have been clear, and the characters weren't clear. Mary agrees, and tells Hok that she didn't feel a connection with him. She tells Jamie that she's a beautiful dancer and a class act. Nigel also compliments Jamie and says she's beautiful. He says he was hoping that Hok would do more, but he was disappointed.

Next up is relatively new couple.....
