Real World - Road Rules Challenge: The Duel
Take That, Drama Mafia!
Episodes 5 Recap by Jenny Lane
November 3, 2006
Previously on Real World/Road Rules - The Duel, Brad and Jodi skated their way to success in the "Roller Derby" challenge. Jodi won immunity from the duel, and Brad won a cool motorcycle. When it came time to choose the first competitor in the duel, Paula was the next Key West castmember on the chopping block. Paula chose Aneesa as her opponent. Aneesa won and eliminated Paula from the game.
Tonight's episode begins at the house. Wes is laying on the pool table with a pool ball in his mouth, and lets one of the other guys take a shot. The guys are all over the house horsing around and basically killing time. They're interrupted by a clue. "Tomorrow's challenge might put you over the edge. Be ready to go at 9:15 a.m."
Beth and Nehemiah are off on the side discussing their alliance. Beth says "from the beginning he was drawn to me, like a moth to a flame." Apparently their alliance isn't limited to the game, because next we see the two wrestling around on a bed. Nehemiah says he's going to "help out a friend no matter what, and if she's cold at night I don't mind being that warmth for her." (How giving of him…)
The next morning, CT tells Beth that she "looks looser today, like someone worked things out." Then he tries to backtrack and says he meant the knots in her back - yah, that's it! Evan says Beth is "lonely, old and looking for love."
It's time for the challenge. Everyone is on a boat and comes up to a pirate ship with a plank off one side. Host T.J. Lavin is already aboard and says that today's challenge is called "Push Over" which is a good old-fashioned grudge match. The guys will go against guys, and girls against girls. Competitors will try to push each other off the plank. Everyone's hands will be tied so that they can't grab their opponent and the first to hit the water is out.
There will be three rounds - heats, semis and finals. The girls' winner will receive a set of golf clubs and golf lessons, and the guys' winner will be safe from the duel. T.J. walks around the group with a bag of colored tokens. Everyone chooses a token and the two people with matching colors will compete against each other.
Casey and Jodi are up first. Jodi says if she can't beat Casey, she'll "look like the biggest douchebag in America because Casey is the size of my pinky." No need to worry, because after just seconds, Jodi knocks Casey to her feet. Casey recovers briefly but Jodi knocks her down again and then pushes her off the plank. Jodi wins and Casey is eliminated.
Next are Kina and Robin. Robin knocks Kina off and wins. Aneesa and Svetlana are next. Aneesa says she knows she has a good chance of winning because she's one of the heaviest girls. (That's something to be proud of?) At first it looks like Aneesa is going to have it easy, but then Svetlana catches her off guard and pushes her off! Diem and Beth are the last pair in this round. Beth is immovable and easily pushes Diem off.
The first semifinal pair is Beth and Jodi. Beth says "none of these bitches can beat me and I'm loving every second of it." Beth quickly pushes Jodi off. She says she's getting "pleasure seeing these girls squirm, be afraid girls, be very very afraid." The next pair is Svetlana and Robin. Svetlana says she thinks "Beth is less intimidating than Robin, because Robin is just crazy." Svetlana may have shown her intimidation because she loses quickly. That leaves Beth and Robin in the finals.
First up for the guys are Evan and Nehemiah. Evan quickly wins, pushing Nehemiah off. Brad and Kenny are next, and Brad wins. Eric and Wes are next, and not a surprise, Eric wins. Wes says Eric "rolled me off like a dog playing with a little ball with his nose." CT and Derrick are the next pair, and Derrick wins.
The first semifinal pair is Evan and Brad. This one goes a few seconds longer, but Brad wins. Next is Eric and Derrick. It looked like Eric slipped a little, but he hit the water first so Derrick moves on to the finals.
The girls' final is Beth vs. Robin.....
