Trust - The Famous Last Word
Real World - Road Rules Challenge: The Duel
Episodes 10 Recap by Jenny Lane
December 16, 2006
Previously on Real World/Road Rules - The Duel, CT and Diem's romance continued. Aneesa and Robin had a big fight, and Aneesa alienated herself enough to be the first one for that night's Duel. Aneesa chose to face her rival Robin, and was successful in eliminating her. Robin went home, and Aneesa remains. Who will be the next guy to be sent home…we'll find out next!
Tonight's episode begins at the house with Eric, Brad and Svetlana wondering who will go home next. Brad says it's hard to know who to choose as your opponent in the Duel because you don't know what the game is going to be until after you pick. Brad says he's not going to go against his alliance, and Eric says he trusts Brad. (Famous last words?)
That night, CT and Diem are sitting on a bench in town, snuggling and talking. CT says he wants to kiss Diem, but Diem says she has a "three week rule" for kissing (she needs to know the guy for three weeks). CT talks about where their first kiss might happen. Diem says she doesn't want to plan it, but then admits that she "likes the cliffs a lot." Say it with me, "Awwww……"
Back at the house, Evan and Wes both say that they'll choose CT if they get picked for the Duel. They're also going to talk to Eric to try to get him to agree to pick CT. Wes says it's a win/win situation if Eric and CT go to the Duel, because they're both really good competitors. Evan and Wes both want Eric to be the last person chosen and then want him to pick CT.
Later that night, a clue arrives and reads, "At tomorrow's challenge you're really going to have to step it up. Be ready to leave at 10:30." Diem (wearing an awful red and black wig) says she's nervous for CT and doesn't want him to go home.
The next day, T.J. (who is losing his voice) welcomes the group to the challenge called "Stacking Stairs." It's indoors for once, in a big building that looks a little like a commercial gym. Everyone will partner up for the challenge (one guy and one girl) and there will be two heats, one heat of three teams and one heat of two teams. The teams have to stack wooden crates up to create a staircase tall enough to reach their flag which is hanging from the ceiling. The team who gets their flag the fastest wins. The winning girl wins the same NHL package as the winning guy won last week, and the winning guy is safe from the Duel. The girls don't look as excited about the prize package as the guys did last week!
It's time to pick teams. The guys line up and so do the girls. Then the guys go over and stand by the girl that they want to partner with. T.J. says that if more than one guy picks the same girl, the girl will get to decide who her partner is. After a little jostling, everyone picks someone. Aneesa does look a little irritated that Brad picked Kina instead of her.
Since Aneesa won the last Duel, she gets to decide which teams go in which heats. She instantly perks up, and chooses Evan and Jodi, CT and Diem, and Kina (who Aneesa calls "Keenster") and Brad for the first heat. That leaves Wes and Svetlana, and Eric and herself for the second heat.
The first three teams get ready for their heat. The guys put on harnesses in preparation to climb the staircase to get to the flags. Evan and Jodi, and Brad and Kina are preparing to win, while CT is just concentrating on flirting with Diem. The challenge begins and everyone starts running back and forth with the crates. The crates are piled up on one side, but of course the flag is on the other side of the room, and it's quite a ways between the two piles. After they get a few piles of crates, the girls start stacking and the guys continue to run back and forth with more.
Diem wants CT to get serious and compete, and CT can't stop joking and flirting. Jodi and Evan are definitely doing the best, and are way ahead of the other two teams. Brad starts climbing his staircase first, even though they don't have as many crates as Evan and Jodi. Evan gets nervous when he sees Brad climbing, so he starts climbing too. Evan and Brad get to the top of their staircases at about the same time. Neither one is high enough to just reach and get the flag, so they both decide to jump for it and try to grab it. They both jump at almost exactly the same time, but Evan misses. Brad is successful, and gets the flag with five minutes and two seconds on the clock.
The second heat gets ready.....
