Evan Leads After Wes Sends Derrick Home
Real World Road Rules Challenge - The Duel
December 6, 2006 Rankings by Logan Huffman
This week on 'The Duel', Wes discussed with Diem how badly he wanted to win the prize, desiring to use it to marry his girlfriend, Real World alum Johanna (who was psycho on 'The Real World', but I digress). And CT and Diem flirted some more, as it was Diem's birthday.
The challenge involved teaming up into two teams, led by CT and Eric, and using the members of the team to reach a flag at the top of a greased-up pole. CT's team managed a victory, moving his team into the second round of the challenge.
In round two, the players had to run across the sand dunes to the top of another sand dune, where they would slide down into a pool of water. After that, they would continue their running course until they reached a giant sand dune, in which they had to climb to the top with giant slip and slides to contend with. The first guy and girl to reach the flag at the top would win the challenge. Evan and Diem won, granting Evan safety from the Duel, and winning Diem a nice gift for her birthday.
At selection, Wes asked the girls to not select him, wanting to control his own fate for the impending Duel. After he was left out, he chose Derrick to battle it out in the upcoming Duel, which was selected to be 'Pole Wrestle'.
At the Duel, after nearly twenty minutes of many restarts, blood, sweat, and fierce competition, Wes emerged victorious, sending long-time veteran Derrick home. And after the Duel, Wes broke down while talking to Johanna on the phone, wondering how much more he could take. Will Wes be able to continue to endure the competition? Find out next time on 'The Duel'.

Evan
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 3
Evan reclaims the top position again this week. He delivered quite a performance in the challenge, easily winning and ensuring his safety for the impending Duel. His giant foot holes in the dune also helped out Diem, who is in his clique. Evan is a tough competitor, and I don't think he is going anywhere.

CT
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 2
CT retains his second-place ranking this week. His team advanced to the second part of the challenge, and he was the team leader for his team. He had a good challenge performance as well, only coming up a little short to Evan in the end. He has a great partner in Diem, and I don't think he is going anywhere, as Diem will save him every time.
Diem
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 5
Diem moves up two positions on the scoreboard this week. After having a couple bad weeks, Diem is back to her old ways, winning this week's challenge, earning herself a car stereo system as a nice birthday gift. Diem seems to be coming back as a strong competitor, and having a tight bond with CT, she is in no danger, as he will save her every time as well.
Robin
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 4
Robin remains in her same position on the scoreboard as well. She was close to beating Diem, being ahead of her at a few points during the challenge. In the end, she came up a little short, but she did have a good performance, and she was on the winning team as well. Robin could be challenged to a Duel, but otherwise, she is safe for now.
Jodi
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 1
Jodi tumbles from the first position to the middle of the scoreboard this week. She was on the losing team at the challenge, and didn't even have the chance to move on to the second round. However, Jodi has won a lot of challenges, and I still think she is the strongest girl. I doubt she will be challenged next week.
Brad
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 9
Brad gets a little bump this week, moving up three positions on the scoreboard. Brad will be safe during the selection process, but Brad may actually be challenged to the next male Duel, as I think people will worry more about going against CT than Brad, and Wes will want to go after the alpha males before Eric. Brad is tough, but if he was pitted against Wes, he could be in danger.
Eric
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 7
Like some of the other players, Eric retains his same position this week as well. He was the team captain of the losing team in the challenge, which was a bad thing. Lucky for him, he wasn't challenged this time, but he isn't as tight with the veterans, and his time is coming. He did win the last Duel he participated in, so he may be able to survive, but he is bound to be challenged again soon. Eric is in trouble.

Kina
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 6
Kina drops two additional positions on the scoreboard this week. As I expect Svetlana to be left out at next week's selection, Kina may be the one she chooses to target (although, Robin is a possibility as well). However, Kina doesn't seem to be as strong as Robin, and even against Svetlana, Kina could be eliminated in a Duel, as Svetlana sometimes delivers amazing performances when her ass is on the line.
Wes
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: 12
Wes gains three positions on the scoreboard this week. He delivered a hardcore performance in the Duel, defeating veteran competitor Derrick to remain in the competition. However, he did seem to crack a little after the Duel, and he'll need to regroup before the next Duel to remain a strong competitor, as I suspect him to be challenged to Duels until he is finally eliminated.
Aneesa
Current Ranking: 10 - Previous Ranking: 10
Aneesa keeps her same position as well this week. Like Svetlana, she is also in trouble for next week's Female Duel Day, as she is an outsider. However, she may be safe, as she is a tough competitor, and people will be more wary of challenging Aneesa than the weaker Svetlana.
Svetlana
Current Ranking: 11 - Previous Ranking: 11
Svetlana retains her same ranking this week, but her same ranking this week means that she is in last place on the scoreboard. She is out of the loop, as she isn't in the strong veteran alliance, and Wes and Aneesa may not trust her any more after she stabbed Beth in the back. Unless she wins Immunity, she will most likely go into the Duel, as she is a smaller, weaker girl than Aneesa, and the veteran girls may view her as an easy opponent in the Duel.

Derrick
Ninth Elimination
Derrick has been on many of these challenges, and despite his fierceness, he always comes up short. If another Duel besides 'Pole Wrestle' had been chosen, he may have beaten Wes, but his smaller size hindered him in 'Pole Wrestle'. Nevertheless, he did put up quite a fight. Despite being an amazing competitor time after time, Derrick came up short once again, becoming the ninth person to be eliminated from 'The Duel'.
Beth
Eigth Elimination
How could this happen to my Beth? How? I'm crushed. Oh wait, she'll surely be back next season, as she always provides extreme drama. Alright, I'm OK now. I hated to see Beth go out like that, as she totally overpowered Svetlana, but as the rules said, the flag had to be unclipped. It looked pretty easy to rip off, and I suspect her mistake could have happened to anyone. I wish they had gotten 'Pole Wrestle' as the Duel, and Beth would have won hands down. Despite all of her efforts and brilliant alliances and scheming, Beth became the eighth person to be eliminated from 'The Duel'.
Nehemiah
Seventh Elimination
Nehemiah got extremely unlucky. If nearly any other Duel challenge had been selected other than "I Can", Nehemiah probably would have won. Eric has probably 100 extra pounds on Nehemiah, and that was just too much for Nehemiah to overcome, especially in a challenge involving lifting. Beth's "Tenderoni" is no more, as Nehemiah became the seventh player to be eliminated from 'The Duel' after Eric successfully lifted all 165 of the logs for five seconds.
Casey
Sixth Elimination
While I really wanted to see Casey kick Robin's ass, we all knew what was going to happen, especially after Pole Wrestle was revealed to be 'The Duel' game. Although Casey did hold on, she looked like a little toy being dragged around by a dog. I know she was terrified of heights, but being that she didn't really have anyone to keep her safe, she should have at least attempted a jump in the platform challenge. Casey was probably the weakest girl, and despite all of her heart, she was the sixth contestant eliminated from 'The Duel'.
Kenny
Fifth Elimination
Kenny had a rough time. Although he is athletic, his strength paled in comparison to many of the other guys'. For whatever reason, Nehemiah decided that Kenny was the person he wanted to take to a duel, and even though I thought Kenny would surely win, Nehemiah proved me wrong, quickly stomping Kenny in the Ascender. Kenny was the fifth player to be eliminated from 'The Duel'.
Paula
Fourth Elimination
Even though Paula fell short in 'The Duel', she really impressed me with her toughness against Aneesa, one of the strongest and fiercest girls on the show. She held off Aneesa for an amazing eight minutes, which was something I didn't think Paula possessed the ability to do. If she hadn't been a Key West cast member, she may have made it much further into the competition. Despite her best efforts, Paula was the fourth player to be eliminated from 'The Duel'.
Tyler
Third Elimination
Even though Tyler tried his hardest, there is only so much you can do when everyone is against you. Tyler was the third person to be eliminated from 'The Duel' after challenging Derrick to a duel, and losing to Derrick in the ascension duel challenge.
Tina
Expelled
Tina was expelled from 'The Duel' after she lost her cool and punched Beth in the face. She was stupid for doing it, as she basically let Beth win the battle, and she just looked immature in the process. Tina's actions destroyed her chances at $150,000, making her the second person eliminated from 'The Duel'.
John
Eliminated: Episode 1
John was the first contestant to be eliminated from 'The Duel' after Tyler challenged him, and John unsuccessfully doubted Tyler's ability to lift thirty-one watermelons in 'The Duel' challenge.
