Dancing With The Stars 3: The Results Show Needs A Quick Step

Episode 2 Recap by Cari C.
September 14, 2006
Do we really need an hour of this?

Last night on Dancing with the Stars we got our first glimpse of the new crop of stars vying for the coveted crystal ball. Some stars where better than expected while others were a little bit of a let down. Of course there were the ones who I predicted would fall on their face and did. I am really sad to see that ABC has decided to keep the ridiculous hour long results show. There is no need for and tonight hopefully showed ABC that they only need a half hour to give the viewer what we want.

We begin the night with Tom and Samantha recapping last night’s show. They of course review the scores and once again show us the leader board. Before they bore us anymore they move onto the judges and ask who gets the first encore dance. Len informs us that Emmitt and Cheryl will be doing their cha cha cha again. I am glad Emmitt is getting the encore. I am so glad to see him do well and of course he is partnered with one of my favorite dancers so I am loving this encore. I think the dance was just as good as the night before and I see big things ahead for Cheryl and Emmitt.

After the encore it's time for one of my favorite things about this show. While special guest Tom Jones performs Louis and Karina take the stage and dance. I love to watch the pros dance. I am amazed by ballroom dancing and I hope to one day convince my husband to take lessons with me. After the dance, we get treated to some great interviews by Samantha. Where did they find this woman? Some of the interesting tidbits we learn include Sara being disappointed by the judges comments, Tucker promising to actually dance if he is around next week, and Mario telling us how nervous he was.

A new segment to this season is the audience participation piece they did. We all know it is just a way to fill up time so I find it unnecessary and a waste of time. I do find it odd at how many celebrities come and watch this show. Anyway, it is finally time for the moment of truth. Tom and Sam bring the stars out and the first couple that is safe is Harry and Ashly. Harry looks totally surprised. I guess he went back and watched the show and saw how bad he did. The next couple that is safe is Emmitt and Cheryl. Of course that is no surprise, they were great. The next couple that is safe is Jerry and Kym. Now if Harry looked surprised, I think Jerry almost passed out. Never underestimate the power of those Springer fans. The next couple that is safe this week is Vivica and Nick. I am so happy that my girl made it to another round. I think she is going to fun to watch over the next few weeks.

Before we can get to the rest of the couples who are safe, we must let Samantha drone on about something new for this season. Apparently ABC has combined with the makers of Slim Fast for the Slim Fast Dance Challenge. Each week we the audience will get to see Tysonia Sichinga train with professional dancer Christian Perry. She will learn a new dance each week and then will get to perform the dance for her family and friends (and the millions of people who watch the show). This week she learned the Mambo. I thought she did well with the dance. Now this is the kind of show filler I can get use to. What I like about it even more is how it leads to the pros getting to dance again. Apparently some of the stars will be doing the mambo next week and the pros come out to show them how it's done. Gosh I love those pros.

Of course now that we have had a high, we must have a low. Samantha is backstage again to speak to the people who made it thru to next week already. Harry is still surprised as is Jerry. Jerry was even so sure that he was the one going home, he already checked out of his hotel. Back on the stage and away from Samantha, Tom takes a moment to ask the judges who they think should go home. Len thinks Shanna should go. Bruno thinks it should be Tucker and Carrie thinks it will be Sara. Of course the audience boos. I don't get that, I mean someone has to go home so why get so upset. They are just answering a question.

Of course you would think now would be a good time to announce who is going home but its not, Tome Jones has to sing one more time. Finally Tom finishes up and we finally get what we have been waiting almost an hour for. Elena and Tucker are the first couple in the bottom three. Bottom three, when did it go from two to three? Monique and Louis are safe as are Joey and Edyta. Shanna and Jesse are in the bottom three while Mario and Karina are safe. Surprisingly Sara and Tony are safe, maybe Tom Delay's support really is helping. Of course that means that Willa and Maksim are also in the bottom three. I am a little surprised to see Willa there. I thought she did pretty good last night. Of course like I have said before, not a lot of people know who she is.

So our bottom three are Shanna, Tucker, and Willa. Tom informs us that Shanna and Jesse are safe and finally he reveals that Tucker and Elena will be the ones going home.

I wonder what happened to Al Sharpton. He let his boy down. OF course Tucker didn't help him much with that dance he performed last night. I bet Al kind of felt like Gary Rice's campaign manager after those pictures of Gary and Donna Rice came out.

Oh well, Tucker probably won't be missed much. So far I am really excited about this season and I am looking forward to see what kind of tricks the stars have up their sleeves.

I think this is shaping up to be a great season.
