Dancing With The Stars 3: Whoa, Joey Is Back On Top

Episode 3 Recap by Cari C.
September 20, 2006
This week on Dancing with the Stars the roles are reversed. Last week the women danced a ballroom dance while the men got to shake it on a hot Latin dance. I have a feeling this week we might see something a little different from our stars and that should be interesting. Last week Mario and Emmitt were the judge's favorite. Let's see if that trend continues tonight.

We begin our evening with Tom and Samantha welcoming us. Before we even get to the stars, does anyone else find it annoying that every other sentence out of their mouths seems to be them telling us to vote and watch the results show on Wednesday? I wonder if that has to do with the fact that a lot less people watch the results show. I also have a feeling the voting might not be as strong as it has been in the past. There seems to be a lot more begging for votes. My suggestion on how to fix this: shorten the results show to thirty minutes and make it easier to vote online. I hate having to sign in to vote. I vote more online if it was easier.

After the hosts introduce our couples we learn that all the male stars will be dancing the Quickstep while the female stars will take on the Mambo. Does anyone else find the guy that introduces the stars before each dance annoying? Every time he said Mambo last night I wanted to scream. Before the stars get their chance to shine we get a quick look at what each dance should look like and what the judges will be looking for tonight.

First up tonight are Willa and Maksim. Last week I thought Willa did a good job but she still landed in the bottom three. Neither was happy about being there and they hope to do better this week so they don't land there again.

During the clip of their rehearsals we learn that these two like to fight. It also seems that Willa might have a little temper.

I think that anger fueled her though. She came out tonight looking great and dancing even better than last week. I loved the twirling that Maksim added. The whole dance was sexy and they ended very well. It also helped that Maksim looked really good out there in those tight pants.

The judges seemed to agree with me. Len thought it was fantastic. He loved her hips and the first class choreography. Bruno said they almost to hot to handle. He loves that Willa can really shake it.

Carrie Ann thought Willa got a little out of control at times but overall it was good. The judges scored the couple as follows:

Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Carrie Ann: 7

This gives the couple a total score of 23. Willa is happy with her score and tells Samantha that she thinks a lot of it has to do with the fact that she is more a Latin girl instead of ballroom.

Our next couple of the evening is Harry and Ashly. Last week the judges told Harry he needed to loosen up. I would also like to ask that he not bring his wife anymore. Did we not see enough of her last season? To help Harry loosen up Ashly takes him to see a laughter yoga instructor. I thought the whole thing was a little odd but it worked. Harry was much looser tonight and I thought he looked much better. He is still not great but he is improving. I do think ballroom is more his forte. He just looks more like a ballroom dancer and tonight he and Ashly looked so well put together. Red is definitely Ashly's color.

The judges were much kinder to Harry this week. Bruno liked that Harry was coming out of his shell. He thinks Harry still needs work but overall it was much better. Len loved that Harry had such a great hold and that he kept it throughout the whole dance. Carrie agreed with Len and added that she loved his posture. She thought the dance was fantastic. The judges scored the couple as follows:

Len: 7
Bruno: 7
Carrie Ann: 7

This gives the couple a total score of 21. Harry is much happier this week and professes his love for ballroom over Latin.

Next up are Monique and Louis.....
