Fear Factor: Have It Your Way

Recap by AP N Tenn
August 2, 2006

On this episode of Fear Factor, four teams of couples are gathered to compete for cash and prizes. For the first time ever, viewers chose the contestants from a contest that Burger King sponsored, I never knew about the contest, so how popular could it have been. Due to Burger King's part in this, there are tons of burger king commercials. Which leads me to question, who is eating the BK Stacker? It looks nasty, all that meat and cheese, and there is no lettuce or tomatoes on it? Sure I am glad the little guy from Seinfeld is still alive and kicking, and had a paycheck coming in, but that burger looks unappealing.

On to the show, all of the contests are gathered at a wooden cabin. The stunt involves the contestants being launched into the air into piles of mud. The men will have to find a box with a knife in it, and then cut the rope, which will release the female into a pile of mud, and she will need to find a box with a hammer in it, and then ring a dinner bell. Matt and Jackie are up first, they are an on again and off again couple, currently they are off. Matt does well, but after being launched Jackie is afraid of getting dirty, they finish in 4 minutes and 59 seconds.

Next up are High School sweethearts, Brooke and Zach, they are both 18 years old, Brooke is taller than Zach. He is immediately launched, and splashes into the mud, he finishes cutting the rope in a mere 29 seconds. Brooke easily finds the box, and they finish the stunt in a blazing 1 minute and 23 seconds. Great Time!

Sami and Carvel are up next, they are also in an on again, off again relationship, currently they are on. Sami initially struggles in the mud, while having a hard time finding the box, while her partner goes bonkers on the sidelines, after 6 minutes, she finally finds the box, they finish in a dismal 7 minutes and 46 seconds. I am guessing there relationship is OFF again.

Todd and Jeannette are last up, apparently they are connected because Todd once dated her sister, and now they are just friends, sure! that is a nice little story for TV. They decide to switch things up a bit, and Jeannette launches Todd into the air, they do average, and finish the stunt in 4 minutes and 23 seconds. Sami and Carvel are sent packing.

A new day, a new stunt the contestants arrive at a junkyard. The object of this stunt will be to find 3 hubcaps placed throughout the junkyard, and place them in a pickup truck. The team members will be strapped together in protective suits, as Vicious Junkyard dogs will be chasing them the entire time. The couples will have two minutes to grab each hubcap.

Todd and Jeanette are picked by Zach and Brooke to go first. The dogs are 140 pounds of muscle, they will pull the dogs off after 2 minutes, and I guess the dogs will kill them if they attack longer than two minutes. Off they go, one dog grabs Jeannette's leg, but they get the hubcap in the truck in 40 seconds. The 2nd hubcap is on a bus, this time two attack dogs are let loose on them. They get the 2nd hubcap in 1 minute and 04 seconds. The third hubcap is buried in a circle of tires; they struggle with the last one, they are right at the truck but don't make it, as Joe has to call the dogs off. They finish with 2 hubcaps in 3 minutes and 44 seconds.

For some odd reason, Zach and Brooke chose themselves next, saying they are eager to play. They get off to a good start, then the dog tackles them and Zach is forced to drag Brooke and the dogs to the truck, they finally make it in 1 minute and 8 seconds. On the bus, they do not get to pickup the hubcap before one dog attacks them. Zach then drags two dogs and Brooke to the truck as she cheers him on. Wonder what those suits are made out of? They just lay in a pile until basically time runs out, the dogs are called off, and I bet now they are regretting choosing themselves to go 2nd. On there last chance, they must get the hubcap in 36 seconds to advance, they grab the hubcap and three dogs are attacking them of course they do not make it.

Jackie and Matt are up last; they have a huge advantage, as the only have to get one hubcap in less than 1 minute and 8 seconds, how easy is that? They get the hubcap in 23 seconds, wow that is why going last is such an advantage. Bye Bye to Brooke and Zach.

At the final stunt, the teams are brought to the dessert. Together in a head to head challenge, they will have to climb up on a bus that is suspended in mid air, while the women hang underneath the bus, the men will have to release the women, and then both team members will have to run over to a pile of sand and find a handle, attach it to a detonator and blow up the bus. Todd and Jeannette find the detonator first, blows up the bus and win!!
