Welcome to Celebrity Fear Factor, which will be the show's series finale. The show has gathered eight "celebrities" (decide for yourself) for us. And they are…
Todd Bridges, who says that he's been places the others have never gone, and he's probably more daring than anybody.
Tempest Bledsoe, who says that she's not the little girl from "The Cosby Show" anymore, and she's going to take everyone out.
Leif Garrett, who says that everyone probably remembers him as this ex-pretty boy/teen idol, but he's been through some tough experiences (like being arrested, but he leaves that part out), and that a Fear factor win is imminent.
G. Gordon Liddy, who is a "Watergate Figure" that I've never heard of before, but Fear Factor helpfully adds that he is a radio personality. He says that he has lived a pretty full life, and his age hasn't stopped him from doing anything before; he's been through all of the rigorous pre-show tests, and he's ready to go.
Arianne Zuker, who plays on "Days Of Our Lives" (I guess NBC had to get someone from one of their own soap operas to complete the cast). She says that although she is a glamorous actress with shorts skirts and stilettos, she is ready to compete, and the other contestants better watch out.
Next up, we have Brande Roderick, who may actually be the most well-known person on this episode (you may remember her from this summer's "Game Show Marathon" reality series on CBS). She says that people just know her as a Playboy Playmate and a model, but they'll be shocked at how competitive she is.
Traci Bingham makes another reality show appearance (she was on "The Surreal Life"), and she says that she thinks Fear Factor is an amazing show, and she loves mystery, drama, and action, and Fear Factor provides all of that.
Our final competing celebrity is "Stuttering" John Melendez, who says that he is on the greatest late-night talk show ever, and he'll be embarrassed to come back and tell Jay Leno and Kevin that he lost to someone like Brande Rodderick or G. Gordon Liddy, and if he does lose, they'll give him crap for the rest of the year.
Joe welcomes them all, and comments how sucky the day is (it is raining fairly hard) for their first stunt. Joe tells them that in a twist (well, not really if you've watched this season), for the first two stunts, the celebrities will be operating as teams, and the guys get to choose their partners. In the final stunt, the two remaining teams will split up and compete for the $50,000.
Joe tells us about the first stunt. The teams will be hung by their feet above the water, and slammed down into it repeatedly. They have to remove twelve flags attached to their vests, and whichever team can remove them the fastest or the most flags the fastest will have the power to choose the first team eliminated.
The guys have been randomly selected before the show, and Leif gets to choose a partner first. He chooses Arianne almost immediately. Brande whines that this is like being in school, and she'll probably be picked last. Joe says that she'll probably be picked second. John is next, and he picks Traci, because he can't wait to see her in a bikini. I would have picked someone else, and then gone home to watch a "Baywatch" repeat. Todd picks Brande, who is thrilled not to be picked last. G. Gordon Liddy is left with Tempest, who claims that must mean she is going to win. The girls act surprised, and Joe remarks on her confidence.
Leif and Arianne are first, and they go to change into their swimsuits. Joe asks John and Traci how they think Leif and Arianne will do, and they both say that they think they'll do well. Joe asks Tempest if she realizes who she is partnered with, and he tells her that he was second in line to J. Edgar Hoover, and he was also in the Korean War. Joe says he is their only contestant ever to be in the encyclopedia. Joe comments that Gordon also burnt his hand with a candle to prove his toughness. Gordon says that it was actually a cigarette lighter, and he doesn't know where the candle rumor came from.
Todd says that he feels better that both he and Gordon have been in jail. Joe asks Gordon what he went to jail for, and Gordon says that it was nine different felony counts all related to the Watergate scandal. He was in jail for five years. Joe asks him if he was guilty, and Gordon says, "Of course I was guilty!" Joe laughs. Todd says he wasn't guilty of anything, though. Sure, Todd. John chimes in that he went to detention once, and Gordon jokes that formerly being in the FBI, he knows John's rap sheet, and he was caught impersonating a human being. Everyone laughs, and John says that this must be "G. Gordon Seinfeld". Joe laughs at that one.
The moon has risen into the sky, as night has fallen on Leif and Arianne, who are about to begin the stunt. The stunt begins, and so does the dunking into the water. Leif appears to be doing OK, but Arianne seems very disconcerted by the dunking, and isn't doing so well. Arianne pulls her rip cord and quits the stunt, and Leif continues trying to pick flags off of his vest. Joe comments that this stunt is a little insane, and other contestants say that the stunt looks "violent" and "ridiculous". Leif finally has had all that he can take, and quits as well. They only end up with four flags, which must say something for the difficulty level of the stunt.
Joe asks John what he thinks, and he says that he is starting to think this was a bad idea. Joe says that they're obviously not going easy on them just because they're celebrities. John and Traci are next, and John says that he's not ready, but he is going to do it. Joe asks Gordon if he's worried about this, and he gives a firm no. From what he said he's been through, being slammed into the water is probably a cake walk. John and Traci are off to change into their swimsuits. As soon as they walk away, Joe says that they are obviously doomed. Brande protests, and Gordon thinks John will surprise everyone. John comments on both his and Traci's bodies, which look pretty good. Leif and Arianne rejoin the group, and Joe tells them they each got two. Arianne says that she'd like to see others get more, and Leif says that the slams are so quick; it's hard to realize what's happening. Todd comments that Arianne got out quickly, and says that Leif took a beating. Arianne says that she wasn't fooling around. Both Tempest and Todd also think that John will do well.
John and Traci are now hanging above the water, and Joe tells them that they have to get more than 4 flags to stay in the running for whom to pick to be eliminated. Joe counts them down, and they begin to be dunked. I see two flags fly off, and Joe comment that John just got a couple of them. Todd says that he told everyone John would hang in there. Traci quits, and since she neglected to pull her rip cord instead of just panicking and actually quitting, they had to stop the entire stunt. I told you not to pick Traci. John looks frustrated, but he got five flags alone, and with Traci's two flags, they have a nice lead of seven flags.
Brande and Todd are next, and Joe asks them if they're ready. Todd says, "Hell no", but they are still going to do it. Brande seems scared, and everyone tells them to have fun. They go off to change into their swimsuits. John and Traci return, and John says Traci panicked. Joe tells them that they did get seven flags, but they had their hands on the flags when they went down, which was against the rules, so their total is reduced to four, which puts them into a tie with Leif and Arianne. They are frustrated by their mistake.
Joe asks everyone how they think Todd and Brande will do, and both Traci and John think Todd will panic. Both Tempest and Joe disagree, and John guesses that he'll just cry like a baby instead. Todd coaches Brande not to panic and just get as many as she can. Joe tells John, Traci, Leif, and Arianne that since they are tied, if no one beats their score, they will all decide together who goes home.
Joe reminds them how many flags they need to beat (four), and counts them down. The stunt starts, and so does the dunking. Todd pulls the rip cord only after two dunks, and leaves Brande up there to go it alone. Everyone comments how they were right about Todd, and note how tough Brande is hanging in there. John is cheering her on, and I see her yank one flag off. Brande pulls her rip cord, and she has yanked off six flags all by herself, stomping the previous two teams. I knew she would be tough. Arianne says that she was awesome, and she has to hand it to her. Brande is pissed that she quit, and knows she could have continued. Todd says that she did a good job, and she's the one that did it all. He says that it "f**king hurt". Did he expect it to feel great?
Gordon and Tempest are last.....
