Celebrity Fit Club: Burning Off The Pounds
Recap by Donna Emery

This week on Celebrity Fit Club, I kept hoping someone would turn one
of the fire hoses on Nick Tuturro. Anything to cool off that man's fiery temper.
A team competition is sure to bring out a competitive spirit, but Nick's display
of temper - both last week and this week - is a bit much. The other seven competitors probably wanted to win just as badly, but Nick acted like a spoiled child.
The week began with a glowing review of last week, by our host,
Ant. The first person featured was Erika, who looks much better since dyeing her hair back to blonde. She also got the chance to do her first photo shoot, post-baby. When she began picking outfits for the shoot, she became easily frustrated. A hair and cosmetic makeover helped.
But when the photographer marveled at her beauty, Erika noticed right away that her body isn't yet ready for prime time. Her weigh-in showed that she went from 148 to 143; a loss of 5 pounds. She met her target, and has now lost 9 pounds. She told Linda that she's feeling more like herself, yet, she knows that if she sent her photos out, they would not be well-received by casting agents.
Harvey gave her a target of 3 pounds for next week, and I think she will make it. (See my scoreboard for this week's rankings!)
For this week's challenge, Ant brought the gang to a Fire Fighter's training center. The teams competed in three exercises, and the winning team would get a gas grill for each team member: something any dieter can put to good use. The first exercise pitted the teams against each other in a race to extinguish a fire in a pile of burning boards.
Both teams started strong, but the Blue Team (Fat Crushers) began spilling water out of their buckets. The Red Team (Chili con Carnie) seemed to have an extra advantage with cool-headed Ted Lange, who led the team to various places where the fire needed more water; and manually dismantled the pile of flaming boards. The other team didn't think of that, and the Red Team was named the winners. But Nick was as hot as his team's still-flaming boards. He claimed that the Red Team's fire was still burning, and even his captain (Bone Crusher) couldn't console him to his team's loss. He griped that the Red Team had cheated, though the judges stood by their decision.
The next event was to use the hoses. A model house with springboard "windows" was set up, and each team had to knock out the windows with water. During this event, the 400-lb. Bone Crusher showed that he has the agility of a much slimmer man. Yet, even his early mastery of the event was cancelled out when the team's hose became irreparably tangled. Ted again proved to be a competent team member. Both teams eventually excelled at this event, and it ended in a draw when both hoses ran out of water. Nick couldn't even accept this conclusion, and claimed
that the windows for the Red Team had been unfairly propped, in order to help them have an advantage. He went up into the model house, and was still griping even when the fireman showed him that both sets of windows were the same.
The last event involved dragging a life-sized mannequin to safety; then, scaling 5 flights of stairs.
Both teams began strongly again, but Angie was bested by the stairs. Her lack of fitness again slowed down her team, but captain Bone Crusher made up her slack, and the Blue Team won
this event. However, their cumulative time wasn't enough to fend off the big lead
that the Red Team had acquired in the first event, and the Red Team was declared the overall winners. Nick predictably didn't take this lying down, and griped about unfairness, yet again.
Back at the command center, Vinnie was up for weigh-in. But first, the judges revealed that they had tried to derail Vinnie by sending in an attractive lady to try to flirt with him. They secured a decoy, who tried to draw him out or distract him from his workout. But it didn't work. He laughed at the judges; saying "she was a kid! I wouldn't have gone for a kid!" Ted understood: "you want a woman, right?" and Vinnie agreed. Vinnie showed that he's stuck to his plan, this week; going
from 262 to 257 lbs. This was a 5 pound loss, and although it didn't meet his target, his team showed that they were proud of him. Vinnie's now lost a total of 17 pounds, and Harvey assured him that his cardiologist had given the OK for him to exercise. "Get the fear out of your head," he urged. But Vinnie had his doubts, and admitted "sometimes, I quit." The experts encouraged him to keep going, and gave him a target of 5 pounds for next week.
Angie stepped on the scale next.....
