Celebrity Fit Club: Vinnie Goes Postal While Angie Makes Excuses
Recap by Donna Emery
August 28, 2006

This week on Celebrity Fit Club, Nick Turturro didn't lose his temper.
But, as if his irritability were contagious, almost everyone else did.
After reviewing last week's highlights, host Ant promised that this
week's episode would feature a "full-cast meltdown." They are almost at the
halfway point of their weight loss journey. The contestants met for a hike
on a beautiful mountain trail. Following Fit Club tradition, both
teams were asked to vote one of their team members to the other
team. Once the switch was done, the new team members' future weight loss
would be credited to their new team. No one could vote for
themselves.
Starting with the Fat Crushers, Angie voted for Bone Crusher. She
hadn't known who to vote for, and Bone suggested that she vote for him.
Nick decided to vote for Erika, since he said that the red team needed
her help. It was insincere, but she thought it was sweet. Erika turned
the tables and voted for Nick, since she said that Nick and Vinny were
good buddies. The final vote went to Bone Crusher. Because he was
the team captain, his vote would be the deciding factor if there was a
tie. He voted for Angie, so she was the one that would be traded.
Over on Chili con Carnie, Tina began by voting for Carnie. Ant was
surprised that she would vote off the captain, but she had made her
choice. Ted seconded the vote for Carnie. Carnie was upset; she didn't want
to go. Ted said that he felt that Carnie and Angela would be an even
trade. Vinnie voted for Ted, but said he knew that it wouldn't happen.
Carnie voted for Tina, so those two votes made Carnie the one who was
traded.
Angela went over and sat by her new team, and Vinnie immediately said
that Ted would be their new captain. He didn't sound like he was making
a suggestion, and Angie was upset. She claimed that she wanted to be
captain, and that Vinnie was showing no respect for her. A heated
discussion rose between them, but Ant forestalled it by saying he would ask
for a decision, tomorrow. When the two teams rose to go to their
challenge starting points, Vinnie went over to gripe to Nick that he didn't
want Angie to be the captain. He said he would leave the contest, if
she became captain.
Although her poor performance on the previous fitness challenges might
have been part of the reason for Vinnie's attitude, the other female
contestants soon found another reason to find fault with Angie's
motivation: she was smoking a cigarette. Though she frequently complained
about her physical condition, and she knew that she was soon facing another
physical challenge, she was unapologetic about the smoking.
The teams were told that they would be going on a 2-mile hike. Both
teams would have to get all 4 members to the finish line, in order to
finish. The team that finished first would be rewarded with a 3-day spa
pampering.
When the race began, Ted and Tina quickly sprinted ahead of the others
on the Red Team. Vinnie and Angie were slower, and Ted began to get
frustrated. Though he didn't show as much temper as Nick had done, over
Angie's previous poor efforts, it was plain to see that now he might be
getting a feel for why Nick had become so upset. Vinnie was more
sympathetic, and kept pace with Angie. Soon, the trail got to her, and a
medic had to give her a breathing treatment. Ted insisted that all four
team members had to finish the race together, so he and Tina
impatiently waited until Angie was ready to try, again.
The Fat Crushers weren't having as many difficulties, but Bone Crusher
was also showing the strain of the trail. His team rallied around him
and encouraged him. When both teams met in the middle of the trail,
Nick noticed Angie was slowing the Red Team down, and sniped that now
they knew how he'd felt, last week.
As the Blue team hit a downhill section, they edged ahead, and that
momentum kept them in the lead and helped them win the challenge!
Realizing that they were beaten, but determined to finish the course, Ted
kindly went back and helped Angie to finish the race. Arm in arm, they
crossed the finish line together.
Tina was upset with Angie. She griped to Vinnie that Angie hadn't been
properly conditioning herself. When Angie crossed the finish line,
Tina tried to tell her this, but Angie said Tina didn't understand. Angie
was discouraged, saying "I feel like I don't belong to either team."
As the teams gathered for the weigh in, the panel noted that Angie was
crying. They asked why. She said that she felt overwhelmed by the
physical challenge. Tina reminded her that they were a team, and promised
that they would get through it, together. Angie spoke up, and said
that nobody else had her issues. She cited her heart, joints, and lungs,
and said they were not in good shape. She admitted that she hadn't
worked out, as much as she should have; but said that she was doing well,
and choosing good foods. She claimed that part of her problem on the trail was a fear of snakes; she had been so busy watching her feet, to prevent stepping on a snake that she couldn’t keep a good pace. Nobody believed this sorry excuse.
Last week, Angie had weighed.....
