Celebrity Fit Club: Harvey Gets Down and Dirty

Recap by Donna Emery
September 18, 2006
This week on Celebrity Fit Club, I saw one of the most revolting sights I've ever seen on reality TV.

And it wasn't the piles of horse manure that the celebrities had to shovel. It was Ant, in a ridiculously fake "Western" outfit. I laughed so hard that I spewed ice tea down my blouse.

The episode began with a surprised Harvey, who greeted a chastened Angie Stone. She actually kept her commitment to work out in the mornings, and she really gave it her all.

She acted like a different person than the Queen of Excuses we've come to expect. I was very impressed by her new attitude and effort. When the celebs gathered for their weigh-in, Ant justifiably complimented her on her dedication. Bravo, Angie!

She was the first to be weighed this week. Last week she was 213 pounds, and this week she is 214. But she didn't get discouraged or angry. She calmly stated that she's been dieting and working out, and that she knows the weight will come off. She looked lovely, in a pretty flowered dress (though it was a bit sheer) and rejoiced that she's gone from a size 18 to a size 14! She also apologized to the other celebrities for her formerly defeatist attitude. She said that being a celebrity doesn't make her life easier than anyone else's.

She again touted her busy schedule, but this time she said she is committed to her weight loss. She received a well-deserved round of applause. She's now lost a total of 12 pounds, and has a target of 4 pounds next week.

Next, Ant told us about the celebrities' visit to "the Fit Camp from Hell". He warned us that it was Harvey's toughest challenge, and welcomed them when they got there. Everyone was complaining about the oppressive heat, and Ant looked about as comfortable in his cowboy suit as Peyton Manning would; in a tutu. Ant told the celebs to open the barn doors, and they were faced with two piles of horse manure. All of them protested, but Harvey was serious: their first task would be to shovel 300 pounds of the stuff, and bring it to the scales. The first team to weigh in with 300 pounds would win task number one.

Nobody was looking forward to the job. Ted grimaced, because he'd just gotten a manicure. Carnie was worried about contracting a "horse disease". But Tina and Angie dug right in, and the contest began. Angie seemed tireless; her new attitude was evident.

Each team had their own strategy: The Red Team thought that lots of smaller bags would be easier to carry, while the Blue Team tried to fill every bag as full as possible. In the end, the Red Team won the task, and Angie was ecstatic: this was the first time she'd been on the team that won a task.

The next event was the mud crawl. Each of them would have to creep on knees and elbows through a mud ditch. The Blue Team was clearly in the lead, but Ted clocked in at an amazing 18 seconds! Nick acted like his old self: accusing Ted of cheating, and saying his time was impossible. Nick insisted that Harvey settle the dispute, and Harvey amazed all the celebs by diving straight into the mud and crawling on his belly, through the ditch. To settle it further, Nick and Ted raced again, using Harvey's method, and Ted was again victorious.

But the Fat Crushers had pulled ahead and had a very large lead, so they were declared the overall winners! The prize was that their children's charity would get a large shipment of sneakers. And because Hot Buttered Soul had done an awesome job in the first task, Ant said that their children's charities would receive some boxing equipment.

Back at the weigh-in.....
