Real World - Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat
You Never Ever Vote For Yourself!

Episode 8 Recap by Jacob D.
July 18, 2006

Previously on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge- Fresh Meat:
Angered about being voted into exile, Tonya planned to get revenge on arch nemesis Tina. Linette and Theo began flirting and spending a lot of time together with a relationship becoming a possibility. At the challenge, Tonya/Johnnie and Wes/Casey were not able to win the pardon and faced off in exile. Tonya and Johnnie struggled so much, that Wes and Casey easily won their fourth exile. Tonya made Wes promise to take care of Tina and Tina now really feels the pressure of performing well. Will Tina get picked off like Tonya hopes? Will Wes and Casey continue to be put into exile? Find out now.

At the house, Tina and Kenny discuss their precarious position in the competition. With all the easy targets out of the game (except for Wes and Casey), Tina and Kenny know their lackluster performance could get them sent to exile. Tina likes how Kenny keeps her calm, but she still thinks they need to step it up. Kenny's thinking is that the others are going to do what they're going to do, so why should he suck up to them anyway?

Later, Coral and Evan are discussing the competition and Coral is determined to come in first. She feels that the only way they can be safe is by getting first place. She's right, actually. Meanwhile, Evan is sure that no one knows about his hernia. However, each day, it's getting worse and he's worried it could take him out of the competition. A text message arrives about the next challenge. Katie and Eric are also feeling the pressure to perform well.

The next day, the teams gather at an aquatic resort where TJ introduces them to a challenge that involves swimming with sharks. Yes, real sharks. Obviously, the competitors have their concerns and even Coral feels like throwing in the towel already. Each team will jump into the lagoon with the sharks to retrieve puzzle pieces in a relay format (one person goes, then the next, etc). Once they have all the pieces, they will complete a puzzle. They only get 10 minutes to complete the challenge and if they don't finish in 10 minutes, they are disqualified. While each team takes their turn, the others will be quarantined so that they don't get any insight into what's going on. Shane and Linette decide the play order and the challenge commences.

The first team to go is Wes and Casey and Casey is really having a hard time. Wes is also having a hard time with the sharks, despite being a former champion swimmer. They are unable to complete the challenge within the allotted time and are disqualified. Shane and Linette go next and they do manage to complete the challenge.

Tina and Kenny are next and Kenny jokes that if anyone gets bitten, he hopes its Tina and not him. They give it a good try, but Kenny has trouble swimming and time runs out for them. They are disqualified. Derrick and Diem are next. Diem loves the scenery, but admits that it's terrifying. They are unable to complete the challenge.

Darrell and Aviv are next and they are able to complete the challenge. Katie and Eric are next to go. Eric isn't having much difficulty, but Katie interviews that one of the first things she said to Eric upon meeting them is that she did not want to have anything to do with sharks. I wonder if the producers heard about this and set something up based on it? It just seems like too much of a coincidence. Katie refuses to continue with the challenge and she and Eric are disqualified. Theo and Chanda go next and they complete the challenge.

Coral and Evan are last.....
