Real World - Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat
The Triumph Of Aviv And Darrell
Episode 15 Recap by Jacob D.

Previously on Fresh Meat:
Twenty-four people gathered for the latest Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Twelve of these people were the usual alumni from the various MTV shows (Real World, Road Rules, and the challenges), but the other twelve were random people who had never been on an MTV show. How would the veterans fare against these newbies? They wouldn't. It was soon revealed that the challenge would be a pair’s competition with each veteran choosing a newbie of the opposite sex to be their partner throughout the show.
Being new and a ready made alliance of four, the Austin cast was quickly dealt with. Danny, Melinda, Johanna, and their partners were quickly dealt with and sent packing with Wes left to claw his way through the challenge as an easy target. In the mid game,
Wes and Casey's winning exile record led some teams to target others. Katie and Eric were quickly sent home and after dominating much of the game, Coral and Evan were given their walking papers after they had sustained tough injuries.
Getting into the end game, a line was drawn between the three weaker teams and the three stronger teams. Derrick and Diem, who up until now had been working in the shadows, pulled off two successive wins and managed to get Shane and Linette sent home. After winning their third challenge, they made plans to knock out Theo/Chanda and Darrell/Aviv. Because Darrell and Aviv had won the first and only pardon of the season, Tina and Kenny went to exile in their place and were successful in taking out Theo and Chanda. Tina and Kenny would then go on to win the next to last challenge of the season and they nominated Derrick/Diem and Darrell/Aviv for the last exile with Derrick and Diem getting eliminated. Only three teams are left. Who will win the big money? Will it be the least liked team in the game (Wes and Casey) who had to suffer through 5 exiles and the ire of all the other teams? Will it be slow and steady performers Darrell and Aviv? Or will Tina and Kenny ride their momentum from winning an exile and a challenge to the ultimate victory? Find out now.
At the house, the teams receive their clue about the final challenge and Wes hopes that being in exile 5 times will help Casey and him win. The next day, Tina knows everything is on the line and Darrell hopes to improve on his record of 3 final challenges and 3 wins. Casey gloats over the fact that so many people wanted them gone, but now she's in the final.
The teams gather at the beach and TJ welcomes them to their last challenge. It will work like an exile, with teams racing a course and solving puzzles. This time though, they will be tethered together (just the teammates, not the teams to each other) and they will have to run a 10 mile course, plus there will be checkpoints along with the puzzle stations. As for the weighted bags they usually carry, once they get to the first puzzle station, they take their bag and they must try to solve the puzzle. If they solve it on the first try, they can continue without adding any weight. If they solve it on the second attempt, they must add 25 lbs. A third attempt begets you 50 lbs. and if you can't solve the puzzle in three tries, you get the full 100 lbs. added to carry. The second puzzle station is the opposite in that you can drop an amount of weight equal to the attempt you succeed. Succeed on the first try and you can drop all the weight. On the second try, you can drop 50 lbs. and so on and so on. Unable to finish the puzzle, you have to keep carrying the weight.
Aviv is hoping that she and Darrell win and Wes is going to help Casey. Ironically, Wes says Casey is too young, immature, and stupid to understand the importance here. Yeah, Wes calling someone young, immature, and stupid. Tina is nervous about running 10 miles and Kenny tells her not to have a "can't do" attitude. The teams get started and Aviv says that they just want to keep a good pace. Kenny feels he has a good chance of winning and encourages Tina along.
Darrell and Aviv approach the first checkpoint and the teams must run on the outside of some buoys to the next checkpoint. The teams run through the water and get to the first puzzle, another peg jumping one. All three teams fail their first and second attempts and Tina and Kenny fail their third, getting 100 lbs. to carry the rest of the way. Wes and Casey also flub the third attempt and the two teams soldier on. Some distance gathers between them and Darrell/Aviv, but Darrell and Aviv manage to solve their puzzle and only have to carry 50 lbs. They jog ahead.
At checkpoint three, the teams must crawl under some posts. Tina and Kenny get started and then notice that Darrell and Aviv are catching up. Actually, they've already passed Wes and Casey are now in second behind Tina and Kenny. The two teams quick finish with Wes and Casey lagging behind. At some point, Tina complains and has Kenny take her sandbag, which leaves all 100 lbs. on him. Kenny wishes she would pull her weight more and Darrell and Aviv pass them. Aviv feels that she and Darrell are working together well and we see some clips of them in action over the past season.
At checkpoint four, the teams learn that someone has to carry their partner. According to the sign, they may not drag their partners, drop their bags, or toss their bags ahead of them. Tina and Kenny argue and Wes and Casey plod along. Wes talks about what a struggle it was to get to the final challenge and how inept Casey is. We see clips of him and Casey in action from the past season. The three teams get through the checkpoint and though Kenny is annoyed with Tina for complaining so much, he says it wouldn't be the same without her as his partner. This is the cue for clips of them in action from the past season.
Checkpoint 5 is another puzzle station and it's one of those "remove the 'X' number sticks to make 'Y' number of squares" deals. Darrell and Aviv solve the puzzle on their first try and are allowed to drop all their weight. The other two teams get to the puzzle and try to solve it, but aren't successful. Meanwhile, Darrell and Aviv are so far ahead and have no weight to carry which means they are pretty much victorious.
Checkpoint 6 requires the teams to use a rope to climb up a hill to the finish line. Darrell and Aviv make short work of the hill and finish first, winning this whole season and the $250,000. How long were these people down there? They had to be ready to leave for the challenge by 1:30 pm. When Darrell and Aviv finished, it was still bright out. Now, Tina and Kenny are still on the rope hill and Wes and Casey are bringing up the rear and its dark out. Tina and Kenny finish second, leaving Wes and Casey last. Wes doesn't think finish third is anything to be happy about and Casey feels bad for letting Wes down. Tina is upset for not winning and exhausted from the whole challenge and Kenny feels blessed for the experience. Darrell is glad that his winning record in the challenges remains intact and Aviv is happy to have won. There is much hugging and reminiscing as this season comes to a close.
Thanks for watching and we'll see what happens when the next challenge rolls around. I think I already saw commercials for it during the VMAs and I think it may be called "The Duel." We'll see.
