Fresh Meat: The Game Changes - New Pairs Rankings
Photo Scoreboard and Rankings as of June 1, 2006
A fresh new season of the Real World/Road Rules challenge is upon and with it, new twists and drama.

It was revealed that instead of Fresh Meat vs. Veterans, the Veterans would team up with the newbies for a pairs competition.

The Austin castmates were immediately targeted and had to fight to stay alive. With Coral & Evan winning both challenges and a vote going against them, two of the Austin cast (Wes and Danny and their partners) were the first to compete in exile with Danny & Ev going home.

Will the rest of the Austin cast be able to stay in the game or will the veterans seal their fate?

Also, because the format of the game was changed from a team competition to a pairs competition, the previous rankings from the initial scoreboard have been wiped clean.
Coral & Evan
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: None

Coral & Evan are off to a fantastic start, winning both of this week's challenges. It seems like they are a great team because Evan is the brawn while Coral is the manipulator. It's worked that way for Coral from the beginning (being paired with Mike in her first challenge, Battle Of The Seasons). I don't know if things will go this smoothly for them through the whole season, but I think they are in the best position to be in the finals right now.

Chanda & Theo
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: None

I think this is a great team. Chanda is athletic and Theo is one of the star performers in all the challenges. He always wins and is never targeted and that means great things for Chanda. They nearly won the first challenge so they are already off to a good start. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the finals.

Aviv & Darrell
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: None

I think Darrell & Aviv are a cool team because they seem like really laid back cats. They compliment each other perfectly and performed solidly this episode. They were also wise enough to stay out of the drama involved and I am expecting great things from this team.

Diem & Derrick
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: None

Derrick & Diem were mostly quiet this episode. They performed well in the challenges and didn't get involved in any drama.

Linette & Shane
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: None

Shane & Linette were unfairly targeted by Wes as "the weak team" when that honor clearly goes to Tonya & Johnnie. Wes thought he was being brilliant, but if you examine the evidence, he actually made a really boneheaded maneuver. Tonya & Johnnie performed the worst (by far) in the first challenge and were already starting to argue with each other. That, coupled with Tonya being quite unpopular amongst many alum and Wes could've told the others to vote for her. Had they done so, they could've had a chance to save Danny, but they didn't. I don't expect Shane & Linette to go anywhere anytime soon, especially now that Wes' big plan was found out.

Tina & Kenny
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: None

Tina was a bit of a hypocrite this time around. She was particularly vocal about breaking up the Austin alliance, but when it came time to vote, she voted for one of her own. Instead of voting strategically, she voted personally (she and Tonya are not friends, to say the least). Had she and Kenny voted for Danny & Ev, then the vote really would have been sealed. Then she has nerve to later say that the Austin cast will be kicked out of the game. Why not practice what you preach, loudmouth? Kenny was pretty much quiet this whole episode, so there's nothing to go on by him for now..

Katie & Eric
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: None

Not to be mean, but Katie & Eric will not be winning. The first challenge was a balancing one, so they were able to do well, but they were the second ones knocked out of the next challenge. Katie is not the best physical competitor and Eric is a big dude, so once the challenges get more physical, they will be in trouble. However, the veterans have bigger fish to fry right now. Then again, Tonya & Johnnie still received votes against them. This means that if they perform particularly bad, they could still be in trouble. Although, Tonya is pretty unpopular among RW/RR alum, so maybe Katie & Eric will be fine.

Melinda & Ryan
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: None

Melinda & Ryan aren't in any immediate danger right now (what with lovers Wes and Johanna still around), but Melinda does have a target on her back being part of the Austin alliance. However, I think Melinda is on the bottom of the totem pole as for who the veterans are targeting. Unless Melinda gets in a big to do with the veterans, they will leave her alone, targeting Wes and Johanna instead. Once their numbers have dwindled, the veterans will have no need to target the Austin castmates (whoever is left) and then it will just be a matter of how well you do in the challenges. Without Danny around to distract her, I think Melinda & Ryan are strong enough to do well.

Johanna & Jesse
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: None

How dumb was Johanna? Johanna & Jesse did ok (not great, but not bad) in the challenges, but when it came to the vote, Johanna blew a huge opportunity to possibly save Danny. Had she and Melinda voted for Tonya & Johnnie, their partners would've followed, resulting in a tie and the need for a tiebreaker. Maybe Johanna didn't want to go against her boyfriend? Who knows, but the point is an opportunity was missed and the new guys showed their inexperience.

Tonya & Johnnie
Current Ranking: 10 - Previous Ranking: None

Tonya and Johnnie had a very rocky start. They were the slowest team in the first challenge by a wide margin. They managed to make it to the end in the second challenge, but they argued and bickered loudly along the way. Plus, despite many veterans (particularly Tina) wanting to bring the axe down on the Austin cast, Tonya & Johnnie got a lot of votes based on their poor performances. That doesn't bode well for these two. I have to wonder that if Wes had not made the others promise to vote for Shane & Linette, would Tonya & Johnnie have been in exile? I guess we'll never know.

Casey & Wes
Current Ranking: 11 - Previous Ranking: None

Wes did everything wrong this episode. In the beginning, he ostracized himself and his castmates from the others by kicking the fresh meat out of their own room so the four Austin people could make out. Then, rather than let the others vote how they please, he made them adhere to a plan, unfairly targeting Shane & Linette. Plus, Wes has a very poor attitude towards Casey, telling her she's "athletically worthless" and saying he doesn't trust her. That's not good when you're placement in the competition relies on your teammate (this is a pairs competition after all). Wes brushed Casey aside and focused only on himself resulting in Casey taking a backseat through much of the episode. I feel sorry for the girl being paired up with Wes.

Ev & Danny
Eliminated: Episode 1

Everyone, including the Fresh Meat, knew that the Austin castmates would be immediately targeted and Danny's ouster was the veterans' plan in action. They were blindsided after Tonya revealed to the others that Wes tried to orchestrate a plan to vote out Shane & Linette. When the votes came out, despite an opportunity to switch things up, Danny & Ev were voted into exile and lost against Wes & Casey. I'm not sad to see Ev go because she took on a very superior and offputting attitude from the start, but I'm sad to see Danny go in such a manner.
