On this week's episode of the Real World/Road Rules challenge, the Austin cast continued to feel pressured by the veterans.
Diem reveals her health problems to Derrick and Derrick falls for her.
Coral & Evan, after having won the first two challenges, start feeling the pressure, but manage to narrowly take a third challenge. They choose Melinda & Ryan to go into exile and instead of seeing Johanna voted in, Wes sacrifices himself and the veterans vote for him instead.
Next week, we check out the second challenge and find for sure who will be in exile and who will go home.
Coral & Evan
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 1
Coral & Evan manage to make it three in a row, but people are starting to get annoyed with that. Coral & Evan both have big egos and they are the best team players. For now though, I am keeping them first. Evan is a strong guy and if Coral's track record holds up, her manipulation will keep her out of exile. They certainly won't have a smooth ride to the finals, but I still see them being there.
Chanda & Theo
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 2
Theo & Chanda take a backseat to Coral & Evan for the second week in a row. Coral & Evan only beat them by a small margin in the first challenge and even smaller one in this week's challenge. Theo has vowed to make sure that Coral & Evan don't win again and I think he and Chanda can pull it off.
Diem & Derrick
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 4
I think Derrick & Diem grew stronger this week. They really bonded when Diem revealed to Derrick her determination to succeed, despite her having ovarian cancer. Derrick was blown away and vowed to fight harder than ever for Diem and that's a promise Derrick ALWAYS delivers on. He is an incredible force in challenges and is always loyal to his teammates. They very nearly won this week and at the end of the episode, a possible relationship was hinted at.
Aviv & Darrell
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 3
Darrell & Aviv continue to perform solidly. Despite Aviv's nervousness around water and Darrell's difficulty with heights, they held on for a long time and finished high in the rankings. They continue to get by without being involved in any drama.
Linette & Shane
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 5
Shane & Linette continue to surprise everyone. Watching them perform in the challenge, everyone was sure they would be the winners. Even Coral acknowledged them as little powerhouses. I think they will go deep in the challenge, but I don't know if I see them being in the final 4.
Tina & Kenny
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 6
Once again, Tina talks a big game, but doesn't deliver. She was sure she had an advantage over the other girls in this week's challenge because she had a stronger upper body, by she and Kenny finished low in the rankings. Kenny remains silent for another week.
Katie & Eric
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 7
Katie & Eric performed poorly in this week's challenge, only avoiding last place by 2 seconds. I don't think they can compete with the others physically, but there are bigger fish to fry. Katie & Eric are safe for now.
Tonya & Johnnie
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 10
After having struggling and arguing through the first two challenges and very nearly getting exiled, Tonya & Johnnie had a very good performance this week. Although, that's more because of Tonya relying on Johnnie's strength. I don't see these two going very much farther.
Melinda & Ryan
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: 8
I'm surprised that these two have been chosen for exile. They had an incredibly strong performance in this week's challenge. Then again, maybe that's what got them targeted. Seeing how poorly Johanna & Jesse performed, maybe Coral & Evan thought that she get rid of who they thought was the stronger girl, which would be Melinda right now. I really like Melinda & Ryan and I am hoping they can do something to escape being cut.
Johanna & Jesse
Current Ranking: 10 - Previous Ranking: 9
Geez, Johanna & Jesse have to be the worst performing team right now. They were second to last in both of the first two challenges and this week, they actually were last. Like Wes & Casey, it's only a matter of time before they get cut, but they've been bought another week or two by Wes' decision to nominate himself for exile.
Casey & Wes
Current Ranking: 11 - Previous Ranking: 11
Wes & Casey tried to hold on for the win in this week's "Hang On" challenge, but couldn't. However, instead of being chosen to go to a second exile by challenge winners Coral & Evan, Melinda & Ryan were chosen. This left Wes fearful of Johanna possibly going so he sacrificed himself instead. A noble move and Casey is behind him, but Wes still doesn't have the best attitude and no one seems to like him. In the preview for next week's episode, Theo even says they will send him to exile again and again. Unless a miracle happens, it'll only be a matter of time before Wes & Casey get cut.
Ev & Danny
Eliminated: Episode 1
Everyone, including the Fresh Meat, knew that the Austin castmates would be immediately targeted and Danny's ouster was the veterans' plan in action. They were blindsided after Tonya revealed to the others that Wes tried to orchestrate a plan to vote out Shane & Linette. When the votes came out, despite an opportunity to switch things up, Danny & Ev were voted into exile and lost against Wes & Casey. I'm not sad to see Ev go because she took on a very superior and offputting attitude from the start, but I'm sad to see Danny go in such a manner.
