This week on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge Fresh Meat, things started to get down to the nitty gritty. With Tonya gone, the pool of "easy targets" has shrunk and now various teams are really feeling the pressure, most notably Tina/Kenny and Katie/Eric.
The challenge this week involved swimming in a pool of sharks to find puzzle pieces and many peoples' fears got the better of them. With only three teams completing the challenge, Shane and Linette won again.
When faced with the task of choosing the first exiled team, they decided to play it fair and nominated Katie and Eric. At the vote, with everyone choosing Tina and Kenny, Kenny felt resigned to his fate and voted for himself and Tina. Tina is livid with his decision and has it out with him.
With tensions high, will Tina and Kenny pull it together and win the challenge? Will two new teams go into exile or will Wes and Casey get backdoored into a 5th exile? Find out next week.
Coral & Evan
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 1
Coral and Evan were unable to complete this week's challenge, but then again, neither did four other teams, so I'm not penalizing them for that. Their track record is still the best of all the teams. Some bumps in the road are arising. Evan's hernia is getting worse and previews for next week show Coral getting taken off in an ambulance. Will this team have to throw in the towel? We'll see.
Linette & Shane
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 2
Shane and Linette win another challenge and with their performances being so outstanding, I see them solidifying their position in the finals more and more. I've also noticed that no one seems to mind when they do really well (unlike with Coral and Evan) nor does anyone see their choices for exile as having any malice. That works out just fine for them.
Chanda & Theo
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 3
Theo and Chanda were one of 3 teams to complete this week's challenge, but were bested by Shane and Linette. I am leaving them here for another week.
Aviv & Darrell
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 4
Darrell and Aviv were one of only 3 teams to complete the challenge this week. However, they still finished third so I am leaving them here for another week.
Diem & Derrick
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 5
Derrick and Diem continue to show little fire in the challenge. If they continue this way, I have my doubts about their chances at being in the finals.
Casey & Wes
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 6
For the first time in the whole challenge, Wes and Casey are not one of the initial exiled teams. They are not yet safe though, as they could get pushed into exile through the backdoor if Tina/Kenny or Katie/Eric win the pardon. If Tina and Kenny win, there's a 100% chance of Wes and Casey going into exile. With Katie and Eric, the chances are less certain, as the previews for next week show Wes talking strategy with Katie.
Tina & Kenny
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 7
It had to happen sooner or later. Tina and Kenny are finally in exile and circumstances have left a rift in their relationship. Both are hard headed, but they will need to make up and focus on winning the next challenge. Failing that, I think they have a better chance of winning exile, so I doubt this is the last we'll see of them.
Katie & Eric
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 8
Katie and Eric are currently in exile against Tina and Kenny. If they go into exile, I think the chances are slim that they'll come back. Eric is big and strong, but his size could slow him down. Ironically, Katie's size could also slow her down. Being the smallest person in the challenge means she'll have the toughest time carrying the weight in exile.
Tonya & Johnnie
Eliminated: Episode 7
Tonya and Johnnie didn't deserve to go out so soon, but their elimination was inevitable. Tonya is simply not a very popular person among Real World/Road Rules alumnus. What surprised me was that she was the one fighting tooth and nail and Johnnie was the one whining about the work load. You'd think it'd be the other way around, but nope. They are eliminated and I don't know why Tonya keeps putting herself through this.
Johanna & Jesse
Elminated: Episode 5
Johanna and Jesse actually had a good run in this week's challenge, but it wasn't enough to save them from exile. A blunder on Wes and Casey's part (forgetting a flag) gave Johanna and Jesse the lead, but an even bigger blunder on their part (forgetting BOTH flags) squashed their chance of returning to the game. They are eliminated.
Melinda & Ryan
Eliminated Episode 3
Melinda had a defeatist attitude through the whole episode. In the beginning of this week's episode, she was heard calling Danny and admitting she didn't have much interest in being here without him. Since they didn't win the next challenge, they went into exile and even though they solved a puzzle and dropped their bags, it seemed like they wouldn't win. From the start, Melinda was struggling just to keep up. Forgetting to take the first flag only sealed their fate.
Ev & Danny
Eliminated: Episode 1
Everyone, including the Fresh Meat, knew that the Austin castmates would be immediately targeted and Danny's ouster was the veterans' plan in action. They were blindsided after Tonya revealed to the others that Wes tried to orchestrate a plan to vote out Shane & Linette. When the votes came out, despite an opportunity to switch things up, Danny & Ev were voted into exile and lost against Wes & Casey. I'm not sad to see Ev go because she took on a very superior and offputting attitude from the start, but I'm sad to see Danny go in such a manner.
