Photo Scoreboard and Rankings as of August 1, 2006
This week on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat, things took what seemed like a turn for the best and worst.
Coral and Evan returned from the hospital and played down their injuries, but it was all for naught as doctors' orders forced them out of the game. With the powerhouse team out, it swung open a door for a lot of people, but also closed one in that the final 4 would now only be a final 3.
Derrick and Diem finally win a challenge and Derrick uses this opportunity to make a big strategic move and nominate a strong team for exile. He and Diem settled on Shane and Linette and while Shane took it in stride, Linette was angered because she and Diem are friends.
Wes tried to rope Tina and Kenny into a strategy of voting another strong team into exile, but when Darrell called him out in the vote, he turned tail and ran, voting against Tina and Kenny. Not surprisingly, Wes and Casey were the second team voted into exile.
Being the exile king and queen, will Wes and Casey win another exile?
Will Linette let her feelings of betrayal from Diem wreck her or drive her?

Aviv & Darrell
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 2
Darrell and Aviv move into the #1 spot for the first time pretty much by default. They aren't as capable of winning challenges as other teams (Shane/Linette or Theo/Chanda), but right now, they are the ones with the smallest targets on their back. With all the events of this week's episode, the focus is once again kept off of them. Plus, they are the only team I don't see Shane and Linette putting into exile if they win the pardon, especially with Aviv supporting Linette right now. They are in a good position right now.
Chanda & Theo
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 3
People seem to be whispering a lot about getting rid of Theo and Chanda, but no one seems to want to go through with it. That's good for them, but they still have a target on their backs and must either tread lightly, or win challenges.
Linette & Shane
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 1
They are currently in exile with Wes and Casey. If you read my article, you'll know I said that it's nearly impossible for things to NOT get personal in these shows. Shane and Linette's exiled status was purely strategic, but Linette is extremely angry, especially with Diem. I'm a bit torn as to how to rank them. They are capable of winning challenges and could get the pardon next week. However, if they go into exile, I could see them losing to Wes and Casey which would be unfortunate. I guess we'll see what happens.
Diem & Derrick
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 4
I am extremely happy that Derrick and Diem finally won a challenge. I'm also glad they took a risk, rather than continue with what everyone expected. I also don't hate them for choosing Shane and Linette. With Coral and Evan out, they are officially the best performing team. The thing is, now that they've done it, they could have possibly created an enemy for themselves since Linette and Diem were friends. Linette is taking it hard and she and Shane are more capable of winning challenges than Shane/Linette, so it could be danger for these two.
Tina & Kenny
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 7
Well, Tina and Kenny were psyched to really kick into gear, but came up short. They still finished last in the challenge and by a huge margin. Nothing changes and they are pretty much relegated to "easy target" status with Wes and Casey.
Casey & Wes
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 6
I am so done with Wes. I hate hate hate HATE him. He is the biggest idiot to play this game. I don't begrudge him for spinning schemes to try and save himself. That's the point of this or any reality show game not based on America's vote. It's his attitude and dimwitted (I'm being kind) and hypocritical way of playing. For all his talk about how everyone else has no balls, once he was confronted in the vote, he broke from his original pact with Tina and Kenny and voted for them to go to exile. There were only 4 teams in the vote! If he had stuck with the plan, I really think Tina and Kenny might have gone along and forced a tiebreaker, but NOOOOO. Then, he demonstrates offensive behavior by saying he has no problems going against "a gay guy and a skinny girl." Well, those two have routinely kicked your ass in every challenge so shut up. And this is all on top of his still terrible attitude towards Casey and his new trend of giving up challenges when winning is his only 100% chance of being safe. I hope Shane and Linette slaughter them, but sadly, I think it could go either way. Whatever happens, Wes just will not learn and that's what I hate most. Get this meathead off my screen.
Coral & Evan
Expelled in Episode 10
Coral and Evan were ejected from the game in episode 10 due to serious physical injuries sustained in the challenges
Katie & Eric
Eliminated: Episode 9
Once the Austin cast and Tonya were taken care of, this pair's demise was inevitable. Physically, they never could stack up to any other team in the challenges, finishing low in the rankings every time. Prior knowledge about the exile was no advantage as Tina and Kenny still beat them easily. Katie and Eric are gone.
Tonya & Johnnie
Eliminated: Episode 7
Tonya and Johnnie didn't deserve to go out so soon, but their elimination was inevitable. Tonya is simply not a very popular person among Real World/Road Rules alumnus. What surprised me was that she was the one fighting tooth and nail and Johnnie was the one whining about the work load. You'd think it'd be the other way around, but nope. They are eliminated and I don't know why Tonya keeps putting herself through this.
Johanna & Jesse
Elminated: Episode 5
Johanna and Jesse actually had a good run in this week's challenge, but it wasn't enough to save them from exile. A blunder on Wes and Casey's part (forgetting a flag) gave Johanna and Jesse the lead, but an even bigger blunder on their part (forgetting BOTH flags) squashed their chance of returning to the game. They are eliminated.
Melinda & Ryan
Eliminated Episode 3
Melinda had a defeatist attitude through the whole episode. In the beginning of this week's episode, she was heard calling Danny and admitting she didn't have much interest in being here without him. Since they didn't win the next challenge, they went into exile and even though they solved a puzzle and dropped their bags, it seemed like they wouldn't win. From the start, Melinda was struggling just to keep up. Forgetting to take the first flag only sealed their fate.
Ev & Danny
Eliminated: Episode 1
Everyone, including the Fresh Meat, knew that the Austin castmates would be immediately targeted and Danny's ouster was the veterans' plan in action. They were blindsided after Tonya revealed to the others that Wes tried to orchestrate a plan to vote out Shane & Linette. When the votes came out, despite an opportunity to switch things up, Danny & Ev were voted into exile and lost against Wes & Casey. I'm not sad to see Ev go because she took on a very superior and offputting attitude from the start, but I'm sad to see Danny go in such a manner.
