Friendships were tarnished and opportunities were taken on this week's edition of Real World Road Rules Challenge Fresh Meat.
Linette and Aviv confront Diem with their frustrations over her decision to exile Shane and Linette. They want Diem to stand up for herself and make her own decisions. Diem feels that they ganged up on her rather than tried to mend fences and put Shane and Linette first in the challenge, further dooming them.
The challenge involved jumping from a height equivalent to a 4 story building into water and retrieving flags from atop a superlauncher. Derrick and Diem won the challenge again which meant Wes/Casey and Shane/Linette would be facing off in exile.
Wes made more of an effort to help Casey along and they won their fifth exile.
With Linette out, Aviv decided to keep her friendship with Diem only to keep from creating enemies.
Now that one of the stronger teams is out, what will happen next in the game? Will Derrick and Diem continue their charge to the top? Find out next week.
Chanda & Theo
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 2
Much like Darrell and Aviv did last week, Theo and Chanda move into the #1 position by default. Tina/Kenny and Wes/Casey still have the poorest track record, Darrell and Aviv are very "middle of the road", and Derrick and Diem are the ones in the spotlight right now. I think Theo and Chanda are the strongest team in the game and I would like to see them in the finals.
Diem & Derrick
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 4
Derrick and Diem are on a roll right now. While I don't agree with Derrick that they are the team to watch out for now (considering their middling performances before), they are gaining momentum. Be careful though! Shane and Linette also won two challenges in a row at one point and look where they are now.
Aviv & Darrell
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 1
I am proud of Darrell. Despite his fear of heights (or was it water?), he refused to give up in this challenge. I am disappointed in Aviv though. After admonishing Diem not to let others make her decisions for her, she then says in an interview that she and Linette were giving her another chance to correct her mistake. That's kind of hypocritical. It also doesn't help that Darrell and Aviv haven't really campaigned or worked to change the game in their favor at any point. If they don't do something, they could get sidelined and pushed out of the competition.
Tina & Kenny
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 5
Their adrenaline boost from winning the exile finally kicked in. They really worked together and blazed through this challenge, coming in second by only 19 seconds. Taking into account all their previous performances, they still have work to do, but this was a big step in the right direction.
Casey & Wes
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 6
Ok. I take back some of the bad things I said about Wes. Maybe he can learn. Rather than try to start fights with everyone and harass Casey, he took a more mature approach by being encouraging and trying to help Casey along. In a rather sharp strategic move in exile, Wes took all the bags so Casey could get ahead of Shane and Linette and then once they took the lead, Casey took back her bag and they won another exile. Well done Wes. Had you played like this earlier, maybe you'd be in a better position in the game. Still, with his past history, I am a bit skeptical as to how long this will last. Anyways, Casey was the one getting an attitude and dragging her feet, giving up in the challenge and struggling worse than ever in the exile. Don't get a big head Casey. You saw how well it worked for Wes.
Linette & Shane
Eliminated: Episode 11
It's unfortunate that they had to go, but it was strictly strategic. Linette focused more on her new hatred for Diem and it almost seemed like she taking herself out of the game. Even though Shane took 3 bags to Linette's 1, Linette struggled badly to get through and even stopped to rest at one point. Shane and Linette are out.
Coral & Evan
Expelled in Episode 10
Coral and Evan were ejected from the game in episode 10 due to serious physical injuries sustained in the challenges
Katie & Eric
Eliminated: Episode 9
Once the Austin cast and Tonya were taken care of, this pair's demise was inevitable. Physically, they never could stack up to any other team in the challenges, finishing low in the rankings every time. Prior knowledge about the exile was no advantage as Tina and Kenny still beat them easily. Katie and Eric are gone.
Tonya & Johnnie
Eliminated: Episode 7
Tonya and Johnnie didn't deserve to go out so soon, but their elimination was inevitable. Tonya is simply not a very popular person among Real World/Road Rules alumnus. What surprised me was that she was the one fighting tooth and nail and Johnnie was the one whining about the work load. You'd think it'd be the other way around, but nope. They are eliminated and I don't know why Tonya keeps putting herself through this.
Johanna & Jesse
Elminated: Episode 5
Johanna and Jesse actually had a good run in this week's challenge, but it wasn't enough to save them from exile. A blunder on Wes and Casey's part (forgetting a flag) gave Johanna and Jesse the lead, but an even bigger blunder on their part (forgetting BOTH flags) squashed their chance of returning to the game. They are eliminated.
Melinda & Ryan
Eliminated Episode 3
Melinda had a defeatist attitude through the whole episode. In the beginning of this week's episode, she was heard calling Danny and admitting she didn't have much interest in being here without him. Since they didn't win the next challenge, they went into exile and even though they solved a puzzle and dropped their bags, it seemed like they wouldn't win. From the start, Melinda was struggling just to keep up. Forgetting to take the first flag only sealed their fate.
Ev & Danny
Eliminated: Episode 1
Everyone, including the Fresh Meat, knew that the Austin castmates would be immediately targeted and Danny's ouster was the veterans' plan in action. They were blindsided after Tonya revealed to the others that Wes tried to orchestrate a plan to vote out Shane & Linette. When the votes came out, despite an opportunity to switch things up, Danny & Ev were voted into exile and lost against Wes & Casey. I'm not sad to see Ev go because she took on a very superior and offputting attitude from the start, but I'm sad to see Danny go in such a manner.
