The Gauntlet 2
Let's Blame It All On Beth

Recap By Jacob D.
February 20, 2006
Previously On The Gauntlet II:
The Veterans make a move and end their 4 match losing streak. Kina calls Cara to the gauntlet and easily wins, retaining her position as captain.

We open this week's episode at the club, where everyone (or...almost everyone) is drinking and having fun. Ibis interviews that she's on a strong team and is glad that everyone can take some time away from the competition and just have fun.

Back at the house, Jeremy is up on the computer and interviews that it's 1:30 in the morning and he got woken up by everyone coming back from the club. He feels they have no self control and says, "If you can't practice it off the field, you can't practice it on the field." I agree with him to an extent. I don't like it when people go out and then come back and wake me up, and I wouldn't like it if they did that when we have things to do. However, let them eat cake. They can have some fun, that's basically what this is. Although, considering this is Real World and Road Rules together, how many times are they gonna be out drinking and partying? So for now, I'm on Jeremy's side.

The next day, David and Beth are talking about commitment to the missions. Beth interviews that she doesn't know if her team believes in her (and considering what happens later, they don't give a darn about her). David gives one of those empty, tired, "Raise The Bar" speeches to Beth and interviews that he wouldn't trust Beth as far as he could throw her. He also interviews that he thinks she has something engrained in her to cause drama and such.

The sidekicks chime in. "DON'T GET TOO TIRED OUT TOMORROW. Wear your bathing suits and team color. Be ready to leave at 7:30 am." David interviews that he's nervous about going to the gauntlet and says he'll bite someone's head off if he does. Wait, is this David or Danny? It's David? Ok, just checking. Alton is prepping his team and MJ states that the vacation is over and it's time to get serious. Personally, I would've been serious and attacking things from the start. Then again, I have no interest in the party lifestyle so what do I know? MJ interviews that he doesn't want to go against Alton and that he doesn't think he'll go to the gauntlet, but if he does, there'll be a war.

TJ welcomes the teams to the challenge site and tells them today's challenge is "Spare Tires." On the sound of TJ's horn, someone will jump into the water, swim to the ladder, climb up and get into the row of tires suspended above the water. They will have 10 minutes to get as far they can and as they go, they must release one tire from the line. This of course, will make things harder for each successive player, seeing as there will be gaps in the line. Once the person reaches the last tire and falls in the water, the next person may go, and so on until everyone on each team has gone. Julie interviews that every tire you crawl through nets you a point for your team. However, if you fall, you get no points and the next person has to release two tires. The team who gets the most points wins $10,000 and their male captain will be safe from the gauntlet. The male captain of the winning team also wins a Sirius Satellite boom box and a year's subscription.

Before the challenge, Jamie interviews that things are getting intense and he doesn't want to go home or face Alton in the gauntlet. Brad interviews that he thinks it could be him as well as anyone and says he will be upset if Beth doesn't try hard. Can you people wait until you see how she does before you dog Beth? Beth hasn't done as bad as you think in any challenges. She even rocked the rickshaw challenge (which Robin lost for them) and gave it her all in the team strength challenge (which Ace lost for them). She never gave up in the last challenge and I can't recall a time when she did. Oh sure, you could argue that she didn't help in the balancing one, but NO ONE (except Alton & Landon) completed that one and Beth did give it a try, but her team kept screaming at her and placing all the pressure on her. For a team that sure hates Beth, you sure expect her to step up and save all of you all the time. Which is it? Beth sucks or "we need you, Beth?" But that isn't the worst of it. You'll see.
