Previously on the Gauntlet 2:
Beth continues to be a frustration for the Veteran team. After prematurely celebrating their victory at the challenge, the Veterans learn that they actually lost. Although, they took this chance to get rid of Beth and did, in the form of Beth quitting without trying the gauntlet.

We begin this week's show at the club. We see Randy whisper in Kina's ear, Mark whisper in Robin's, and Alton and Jodi sitting alone outside talking. As they get up to go dance, Alton interviews that they are gravitating towards each other and building a relationship that will last beyond Tobago. Jillian interviews that it's great that they're hooking up because they just got out of other relationships. She continues by saying as long as this relationship doesn't affect the team, it's great. Alton and Jodi smooch on the bus.

The next day, Jodi is talking with Kina and Ibis and is marveling over the fact that she's developed such feelings for Alton because he's totally different from anyone she's dated. Ibis offers her opinion by saying that she doesn't think it's been long enough for Alton to be over Irulan. Jodi says she doesn't want to be the "transition girl." Kina interviews that she worries about Jodi since Jodi has a tendency to look for love in all the wrong places. She also thinks Jodi wants a good relationship with a good guy and that's hard to find in these situations. I'm not sure if she means the "Just Broke Up" situation, or the "RW/RR Challenge" situation, but I agree. Kina advises Jodi to be cautious.

Later, the teams' sidekicks chime in. "Good luck getting yourself out of this situation. It will definitely be the pits." The Rookie girls immediately figure out that they'll be working together to get out of a pit. Jodi interviews that it's a male gauntlet day and she doesn't want Alton to go in and possibly get sent home.

On challenge day, Jamie feels extra pressure because he thinks he could be on the chopping block. He says that a win will ease his mind. Brad interviews that he's not thinking of anything else, but winning. Derrick interviews that he's not worried about going into the gauntlet because he's so used to it. Alton and Derrick wish each other luck. Alton interviews that there's a lot of pressure and he's so nervous. He says it's just a game, but it's like it's his life or something.

TJ welcomes the teams to the challenge site and their challenge, "The Pit." TJ explains that everyone will start at the bottom of a makeshift pit. They will have 30 minutes and some tools down there to help them up (which seem to be bouncy balls and some swim noodles) and the team who can get all their members from the bottom to the top deck and in the fastest time, wins. Aneesa interviews that once you're out of the pit, if you go back down, you're disqualified. I think I see cinder blocks in there. TJ continues by saying that while one team competes, the other team will be sequestered. Timmy interviews that of course, it will be an unfair advantage for one team to watch the other while they go. Then Timmy makes some odd, idiotic leap by claiming TJ just wanted the chance to use the word 'sequestered.' Umm, whatever Timmy. Surely you've never done anything just for show. Since the Rookies have one more member than the Veterans, they will sit one male out, who in turn will be safe from the gauntlet should they lose. The male captain of the winning team will also win a DJ setup package.

With the Veterans gone and the Rookies up, they decide that Randy will sit out because he's the biggest. Jamie interviews that it'll now be him, MJ, or Landon to go to the gauntlet, so they need a win. Ibis interviews that there is pantyhose and duct tape among the tools they can use and that it's "the most random stuff she's ever seen." Honestly? How the heck can you expect these people to climb out of a pit with pantyhose? Seriously! MJ interviews that right now they're just getting Alton out first and they don't really have a strategy, working as they go. Susie interviews that the team has decided to use a 'human ladder' type of strategy. They seem to be having much success as Alton helps Susie, MJ, and some other girls up to the deck. With Jamie as 8th one out, that just leaves Landon in the pit. This is a dilemma because how do you get Landon out without sending someone else in?

Over in the sequester zone, Julie says that now is the time to figure out who can do what. Julie interviews that going second is an advantage because they get a half an hour to strategize.

Back at the pit.....
