Previously on The Gauntlet 2:
The girls held their breath as it was the final female gauntlet challenge. Both Kina and Aneesa hated the position they were in, but knew only one of them would have to face the gauntlet. In a blindfolded balance beam challenge, the Rookies made a valiant effort, but it was the Veterans who emerged victorious. This secured spots in the final challenge for Robin, Aneesa, Julie, and Katie and left Ibis, Susie, and Jillian (Jodi was immune) in the lurch. Kina chose to go against Jillian in the gauntlet and won. Now that the women can rest easy, which guy will be the last to go? Let's find out.
We begin this episode with the two Rookie captains, Alton and Kina, chatting on the balcony. Kina is fishing for information, trying to see who Alton would pick if he had to go to the gauntlet. She asks if it would be Randy and Alton bypasses the question, asking her who she would choose. She figures that the team is leaning towards Randy because he's the biggest. Alton kinda confirms that by asking Kina what they would do if they had to run a lot or go over walls and such. As Alton leaves, he interviews that the decision would be to pick Randy because he's "as strong as a tank, but also big like one too." Yeah, Randy really isn't fat or anything, but he is the biggest guy left and not all of that is muscle and he's not like Mark on the Veteran team where he's the biggest guy, but also the most agile. Kina chats with Ibis over this information and they both disagree with the decision.
Over on the Veteran side of things, the girls, who are happy they are through, decide to ease some of the tension for the guys by baking them cookies. Julie interviews how important this final male gauntlet challenge is and how they need to keep everyone together. Back on the Rookie side, Randy and Kina are discussing his possible departure and Randy is more concerned with leaving Kina than he is about the money. Randy interviews that he knows he's on the chopping block and yet, he's happy that the Rookie team has played it fair the whole challenge.
Over dinner, the teams' sidekicks chime in and Timmy pulls another "class clown" move. His seat is positioned wayyyyyyyyyy out of arms' reach of the sidekick, yet he leans over so much to get it, that his chair tips over and he falls. Raise your hand if you thought that really was an accident. Everyone laughs except me. Timmy interviews that he knows he'll be going to the gauntlet if his team loses. Timmy reads the message and says something about the teams needing their ice skates. Kidding! He was only kidding! "We are coming down to the wire. Don't let things fall apart. Come take a ride with me tomorrow at 9:00 a.m." The Veteran team chats about the importance of this last mission and Mark interviews that Derrick has really earned his spot here and he will give it all he has to make sure Derrick doesn't go to the gauntlet.
The next day at the challenge site, it's already raining. I love rain, but I'm sure these guys aren't exactly enjoying it right now. TJ rides up on a bike (what else?) and introduces the teams to the "Piece By Piece" challenge. Each team will split into two groups: the Disassembler and the Assemblers. Once the gauntlet starts, both groups of disassemblers will run out to their designated bike and take it apart. Once each piece is taken apart, they will run back and the assemblers will run out and put it back together. Once it has put been back together, the captain (or whoever) will ride the bike back to the start point. First team to take the bike apart, reassemble it, and ride it, will win.
Ibis interviews that they are nervous because even though the girls know they are safe, the men are still vulnerable. Derrick hopes his team can win because he does not want to go into a 5th gauntlet. Randy is confident because he (and Jamie) used to work with bikes, so he knows he can be an asset to his team. Kina is glad that Randy has a chance to shine within his team.
