"Kiss and Don't Tell," is the title of this episode of Laguna Beach. It also seems to be the motto of Laguna Beach heartthrob Cameron. It's easy to compare Cameron's lyin' cheatin' ways with LB alum Jason Wahler's, um, lyin', cheatin' ways. But Cameron's likeable, something that Jason never had going for him, even in spin-off, The Hills. You can understand why Tessa is attracted to his playful personality, broad smile, and even broader shoulders.
Tessa and Rocky start out the fresh episode planning their upcoming trip to San Diego. It's going to be pleasure (Rocky's boyfriend, Alex, their friend Stephen, and Cameron and his friend Nick will be joining the girls) mixed with business for Tessa. It turns out she's a model and she's getting back into it after an extended absence. She tells Rocky she's a little nervous since it's the first time she's modeled since she's been sick. Sick with what, Tessa, sick with what?
In the next scene, Jessica once again proves that no matter how annoying she is, she can always get more annoying. She joins Cammie-pie at the gym for a work-out, but never stops complaining or trying to be cute. Cameron is patient with her and tells her she should do 25 reps with tiny, hand-held weights, because she's 'looking to tone, not build.' This is apparently too much for Jessica to handle, because she asks, 'Could I just watch you?' Jessica also asks which girl, Kyndra or Tessa, is Cameron's ulterior motive for going to San Diego.
Chase visits Tessa's house as she packs. He asks if she's nervous, and she says she is; it's been a year since she last modeled. Chase wants to know who she's going with to San Diego, and Tessa tells him, but of course, the only name he cares about is Cameron's.
"What's up with that?" he asks. Tessa tells him they have been friends for a long time, but Chase quickly retorts, "Not as long as me." Tessa says she wishes he could come, but know that he can't because of the band. I want Chase to stop sending mixed signals. Maybe he's just overprotective of his best friend, but it seems to me he has a thing for Tessa, yet he acts like his band is a baby that needs constant love and attention and prevents him from pursuing her. Sigh.
The crew gets ready to hit the road. Nick's mother warns, 'No messing around with models. You can look but don't touch!' In the car, Cameron and Nick talk about Cam's relationship with Jessica. Cameron makes fun of her pathetic attempt to work out. Nick says Cameron's over Jessica and that he needs to cut it loose. Cameron points out that she thinks he's committed to her, but Nick says it doesn't matter and it doesn't sound like she is putting 100% into the relationship, whatever that is supposed to mean. He also lets Cameron know that what happens in San Diego, stays in San Diego.
Tessa models a graduation dress and some casual wear. While the others take off to shop, Cameron and Nick stick around and Cameron admires Tessa's body, saying she's hot. Nick says Cam should 'totally go for it.'
At the Hilton, the group dresses up for a night out. Cameron congratulates Tessa and pulls her into a hug. They all drink out of ubiquitous red party cups and Cameron and Tessa continue to flirt. They allude back to a summer that both say they enjoyed. Cameron says he's all partied out after two years of high school, but no one believes him. It's time for dinner, so they head to Dick's Last Resort, an establishment so tasteful and classy that the waiter displays his bulging, tattooed stomach before he takes drink orders and says things like "Who's hooking up and who's not?" The group decides to humor the waiter and get a kick out of his antics. He makes fun of Tessa and Cameron and everyone joins in. Then, the waiter makes everyone leave the table and asks Tessa who she seriously likes. She admits that it's Cameron, but that he's a bit of a player.
Back in Laguna.....
