The New York Tango, Not A Chance
I Love New York Finale Recap by Jacob D.
April 3, 2007

Previously on I Love New York:
Tiffany Pollard, a.k.a. "New York," earned a name for herself by being the psychotic girl everyone loved to hate on Flavor Of Love, Flavor Flav's VH1 dating show. He adored her, but not enough to pick her as his woman and left her the runner-up. Halfway through Flavor Of Love 2, New York was brought back as a guest, but after stirring up old feelings in Flav, she was reinstated as a contestant. Still, she would wind up in second place again. After being burned twice, New York got her own dating show. 20 men showed up, but after 9 episodes, we are down to just 2. We have the strong emotionally driven Tango and the loose cannon Chance. Which one will New York choose? Let's find out.

It's the morning after the last chain ceremony and the guys are packed for their trip to Playacar, Mexico. Chance is still bummed about his brother (Real) being eliminated and wants to win for the both of them. Tango is glad Chance doesn't have someone else to lean on. Tango, Chance, and New York pile into a limo to the airport and board a plane bound for Playa Del Carmen, which I guess Playacar is short for. Once they arrive at their hotel, the Viva Wyndham Maya, they are greeted by a group of revelers dancing and offering them drinks. Chance is already loving Mexico seeing as how people are already partying. The guys and New York go their separate ways to get dressed for dinner.

Later, the group of three meets for a private dinner. New York tells us that she has deep feelings for both of these guys so she's going to grill them at dinner. New York places a loaded gun of a question out on the table and asks Chance why he thinks she has kept Tango around. He says he doesn't know why and tells us that he doesn't see anything in Tango. New York asks the same question to Tango of Chance. New York tells us that Tango is giving her some boring answers so she decides to bring up the fact that Tango said Chance was fake. Tango tries to correct by saying he didn't say that and we see a clip. He might not have said it directly, but he was implying it.

No Chance.
As New York tries to drag the dirt out of Tango, Chance is sitting on the sidelines waiting for his turn. When New York brings up the Stallionaires issue, Chance goes into another speech about how he doesn't need to promote Stallionaires because he's there for New York. Tango and Chance start to argue, but I don't know if I can recap the stuff they say here. Not because it's dirty or anything, but because I have no earthly idea what Chance is saying. Chance's shrill, whiny voice is even drowning out Tango to where I don't know what Tango is saying either. When things get heated, New York (the one who started all this) tries, pathetically, to stop it and Chance breaks a glass in a huff. Chance is running around screaming and getting so angry that even the behind-the-scenes folks have to step in and hold him back.

Chance, though he's not at the table, continues to yell at Tango and New York tries to calm him down by saying it's not all that serious. Yeah right, calling someone fake and questioning their integrity isn't serious. Tango tells us that the only reason Chance is flipping out is because it's true. Honestly, I don't think that's the case. If you look back at the whole season, Chance and Real really haven't done anything to promote their group or outside projects. They didn't pass out CDs, they didn't hawk their product to America at every opportunity, or anything like that. It seems the only time they talked about Stallionaires is when SOMEONE ELSE brought it up and even then, they didn't hype themselves. So what does this argument boil down to? Wearing "Stallionaires" shirts? I don't think that really counts as being "fake." Maybe they did make a bigger deal of it among the contestants, but as the viewer, we can only go by what we see on TV and we didn't see much mention of their rap careers. And yes, I just defended Chance.

Anyways, Chance, in his tantrum, kick something that splashes onto Tango and he gets up like he wants to fight. The producers have to hold him back as well. New York tells us that she went in another direction because if one of them should hit her, the show would be over. After the guys finally sit back down, a fed up New York tells them how the rest of the trip is going to go. They will each get a full day of alone time with New York before the final decision. They will also get separate rooms after seeing how they confronted each other. Chance, still fuming, gets up and leaves even though New York pleads with him to stay. Chance tells us New York is his woman. So why leave her alone with Tango? New York tells us she was hoping for a nice dinner, but despite what happened, she's not going to let things ruin HER dinner and after Tango leaves, she calmly finishes her meal. I probably would have to.

The next day, Tango gets a knock at his door. He was hoping it'd be New York, but instead it's room service delivering a New York Note. Tango will be the first of the two guys to get his day with New York. Chance isn't thrilled about having to go second, but he feels like his head is cleared from spending time alone after last night. Tango goes and meets New York who is standing atop a boat. Tango tells New York that he thought about her all last night and New York loves hearing that. After setting sail, New York says she is glad to be with Tango because this is the first time they have had alone time. Hmmm, I didn't notice that. She's right.

The boat eventually reaches a private beach.....
