MTV has released details on the cast of Real World 17 Key West and cast photos bios.
Here is what MTV is saying:
For its 17th season, The Real World heads to the southernmost point of the United States--that tropical island full of hidden treasures, Key West.
This time around, our seven strangers have more than each other to contend with, as they end up having to share their luxurious waterfront pad with three unexpected "guests"--Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. In the midst of all the turmoil from Mother Nature, the roommates still have a job to do: open and run Key West's first Mystic Tan Sunless Tanning studio.
Of course, work drama and hurricane evacuations don't keep the roomies from partying at Hemingway's favorite watering hole, seeking romance and making the most of Fantasy Fest, an annual Key West event that rivals Mardi Gras in sheer size and audacity.
Along the way, personalities clash and issues ranging from anorexia to anger management emerge.
Can these seven very different strangers end up as seven friends?
Get ready for the stormiest season yet!
The Cast
Jannelle
Don't let Janelle's good looks fool you -- she's one tough cookie. This bi-racial beauty is described by many as "very independent" and that definitely seems accurate when looking at her life. Never one to avoid confrontation, it is no surprise that this San Jose State grad was accepted to University of San Francisco School of Law and plans to study to be a lawyer. When not hitting the books, Janelle keeps busy pursuing another passion: launching a career as a makeup artist. Those closest to her point out that Janelle will do whatever it takes to get ahead.
John
With his chameleon-like ability to adapt to his surroundings, recent Penn State graduate John is the Real World's answer to Ferris Bueller. An unpredictable mixture of craftiness, charisma, intelligence and kindness, John more than lives up to his old nickname, "Johnny Bananas." But now that John's golden college years have passed, what's the next step? That's the place we will meet John at as he embarks on his Real World experience. Will this social butterfly find the direction he needs or will he continue to flounder as he revels in his glory days?
Jose
20-year-old Jose was raised in Brooklyn, surrounded by drugs, violence and the influence of "the wrong crowd." But since Jose has never been one to take the easy road, he's found a way to break free from negative influences. He is now in his junior year at Florida State University, the owner of multiple rental properties and the proud holder of his real estate broker license. Known to his friends as "The Don," Jose is sure to take the Real World house by storm with his natural leadership, suave nature and love of partying.
Paula
Since her graduation from Quinnipiac University, Paula has become a corporate slave by day, but makes up for it by partying relentlessly at night. No shrinking violet, this striking girl demands the spotlight from both men and women. Confrontational, yet sensitive; bitchy, yet likeable; damaged, yet self-aware; attractive, yet insecure; Paula possesses a variety of personality traits. Seemingly caught in a downhill spiral, Paula is still connected to her abusive ex-boyfriend, and is battling body image issues. Chaos seems follows this beautiful young woman everywhere she goes. Will the Real World house should prove to be no exception?
Svetlana
As a nineteen year old pre-med student at Temple University, Svetlana has the reputation of being the "crazy Russian chick." This voluptuous fireball may appear brassy and confident at first, but it's clear that she's equally vulnerable on the inside. Svetlana, a first generation immigrant is torn between her dependency on her family, and the need to venture out and embrace all of life's adventures. Let's see how Svetlana does as she finally gets her opportunity to leave the nest--and immerse herself in the Real World.
Tyler
While Tyler may say that he's "manipulative," and "mischievous," the wry smile on his face says this could just be his dry humor talking. Or is it? With Tyler, who is openly gay, it can be difficult to tell the difference between sarcasm and seriousness--but that's half the fun. Previously on track to becoming a world-class swimming champion, Tyler was devastated when a freak accident shattered his Olympic dreams. Although doctors told him he might never walk again, he proved them wrong. Now a graduate of Tufts University, he's deciding what to do with his life.
Zach
The proverbial nice guy you want to take home to mom, 22-year-old Zach is sensitive, good-looking and goal-oriented. A Communications grad from Lewis and Clark College, Zach has a world of opportunity waiting for him. Born into a close-knit Jewish family, he comes from old money and old traditions. Things have not always been so easy for Zach, though. Until recently, he was regarded as the chubby nice guy. Since then, Zach has transformed himself and has emerged as a confident young man ready to take on the world. Zach's high energy and tendency to relentlessly "fix" everyone around him is sure to bring an interesting dynamic to a house guaranteed to be filled with roommates in need of some major repair.
