Real World 17 Key West: Episode 3
Issues, Gay Bars, And Hot Dogs

On The Real World...the roommates go to a local joint for breakfast without Paula. At the breakfast joint they discuss the fiasco that happened the night before or in our case...last week. Svetlana feels really bad that Paula may have some serious issues. Tyler doesn't seem to give a rat's fanny about Paula and plays down Svetlana's concern. Svetlana gets really upset with Tyler because it seems like every time she opens her mouth to say something, Tyler always has to shake down her comments. Tyler doesn't seem phased by her aggressive lash-back at all. The rest of the roommates agree that there might be something seriously wrong with Paula or some deep-seeded issue there.
Back at the house, Paula goes into the confessional room and talks about how she hates when we she drinks too much because she cries a lot and loses control. Here's a tip for you Paula. Free of charge. STOP DRINKING! Now she's worried that everyone has already labeled her as the roommate with the issues. You guessed right Paula!
Jose talks to Paula privately reassuring her that nobody thinks she has issues and to not worry about the other night. Ummm... Jose you know that's not true. That girl's got some issues and it will all come out in the wash real soon. Just wait...
Tyler decides that the roommates need to experience his wild world. So they are going to head out to Aqua, the gay club. Svetlana tells Paula that she doesn't want to go at all because she fears that she might see young boys hooking up with older men and the whole thing just grosses her out. John pops in on there private conversation and demands that they all go including Svetlana. Now she feels pressured into going.
Everyone is at Aqua and John seems to be having the most fun. He's dancing with drag queens and the whole nine. Why does it seem like the hardest guys are the ones who seem unusually comfortable among gay men and their antics. Hmmmm.
Anyhoo, John becomes uncomfortable and realizes that he has gone way too far out of his element. He decides to leave and go to another bar and convinces everyone else in the process. Tyler of course in irritated.
So everyone goes to the Irish Pub where John is more comfortable. Janelle and Tyler decide to go back to Aqua. Zach tells John, "I want to go back and dance". But Johns says that he can't go back there. I mean come on John, what's more fun? Everyone just standing around drinking or dancing your pants off. I'm sorry, but I say go back to Aqua Zach.
Back at the house, John and Tyler get into it. Tyler is upset that John left and convinced the other roommates to leave with him and that he didn't take the time to marinate in the entire gay experience. But John argues that at least he extended himself a little by going to the bar. He doesn't see why Tyler couldn't return the favor by hanging out at the Irish Pub.
Meanwhile Janelle sits down and talks to Tyler and slaps some sense into his head. "Hey, at least John gave it a shot Tyler. Everyone has there preference. Just because your comfortable being in a gay bar, doesn't mean that everyone else has to be". Tyler sees the light and apologizes by giving John a hug, which was actually initiated by John. Awwwwww.
John challenges Paula to eat something when he eats. But she can't stand food. "I don't want to be fat, ugly and lonely". John is taken aback by her comment. He convinces Paula to eat a hot dog with him, but she said she'll only eat the hot dog not the bun. Well, at least that's a start.
In the kitchen, the universal hang out in every house, John asks Paula to name one thing she loves about herself and she begins to cry. Here we go again and this time she was sober.
Janelle sits down with Paula to try and figure out what the heck is going on. Paula says that she never sees herself as pretty. She wishes she could just be normal, but she can't. Janelle convinces Paula to get some professional help. She agreed but that remains to be seen. This girl is 94 pounds, is consuming diet pills, eats nothing and drinks a lot of alcohol. I really hope she honestly tries to find some help or this going to be one depressing Real World season. Everyone will be worrying about Paula.
