Real World 17 Key West: Episode 4
Jumping Svetlana

On the Real World...let's start the show by jumping all over Svetlana. I have a keen suspicion that Tyler, deep down, does not like Svetlana. He always has a reason to rip her a new one at any given opportunity. Svetlana was on the internet looking up information about eating disorders, I guess with the hopes of helping out Paula and in walks Tyler. "We're not doing a book report on eating disorder". Just when Paula tries to explain herself, Tyler retorts, "Don't talk to me that way, blah, blah, blah..." I don't know about you but Tyler is getting on my nerves real quick. What Svetlana needs to do is nip that crap in the bud and set Tyler straight. Did I say "straight"? You know what I mean. I think that just because Svetlana is the youngest in the house, people are finding it convenient to talk to her any 'ole how and that's not cool.
Doorbell rings and the roommates come face to face with a handle delivered notice regarding their new job. Jose is truly excited and ready to get busy. I guess he's tired of laying around the house doing nothing. That's understandable when you're used to making money.
Later, Jose and Tyler talk about their new gig. Tyler is convinced that Svetlana will be the first to jump ship since she's so used to being pampered. I guess Svetlana comes from money. It didn't get that from the first episode. I got that vibe more from Janelle. Anyhoo...
Instead of going out on the town to the local bar, the roommates go ghost busting. Well, actually they went on a ghost tour. Key West is known for a lot of ghostly encounters. I didn't know that! Robbie the haunted doll left a lasting impression on the roommates. Svetlana and Paula even want to repeat Robbie's name after finding out that the haunted doll is know for making blood curling visits on the local yokels of Key West.
John, Jose and Zach decide to scare the girls with their own rendition of Robbie the possessed doll. These guys get up at 4:15 the next morning with attempts to frighten their vulnerable roommates. They decide to wrap Jose in what looked like to be sheets. It was a total waste of time. They didn't even so much as get a scream from these girls. If anything, they looked very annoyed by their failed attempt of horror. I'd be pissed too if someone disturbed my sleep. Get a hobby guys!
First day on the job and the roommates are surprisingly pleased. They arrived at a building where the hanging sign read "Pineapple Gallery". Svetlana, already convinced that they would be selling art, had a huge attitude. And who do you think jumped on that reaction. Good 'ole Tyler. "What could you possibly have to be sad about? You are such an ornery little brat". Dang Tyler... cut the girl some slack.
The owner of the shop walks in and explains the business. It turns out that the "Pineapple Gallery" is actually a tanning salon. John was quite excited. He's convinced that the business will bring some hot chicks. Yeah.. that may be true John, but will you get any play. That's the real question.
The owner goes around the room and asks if anyone has experience starting and running a business of their own. Svetlana chimes in enthusiastically about the business her family runs, but she was only a manager. Tyler laughed and quickly corrected poor Svetlana. "You mean your parent's business, not your business".
Later the roommates gather together to discuss what the expectations are for having a successful tanning salon. Everyone goes around the table expressing their strong points and what each can be contribute to the business. Svetlana struggles to add her point to prove that she would be a great asset to the team, but Tyler is not convinced.
Tyler makes it known to the roommates that he would rather work with Paula and Janelle instead of Svetlana because he's claims that she would be sure to get on his nerves. Later Tyler approaches Svetlana and let's her know that he does not like the stuff that comes out of her mouth. Not that he doesn't like her; it's just the stuff she says. "I'm the only one who's coming to you and telling you to your face. The other roommates probably feel the same way". Next thing you know Janelle joins Tyler and they are literally tag-teaming poor Svetlana. This poor child can't catch a break. If you ask me... I think they are just hating because Svetlana is beautiful and rich. Come on ya'll.. Don't hate. Appreciate. Now Svetlana feels like an outcast.
Zach confronts Tyler about making Svetlana cry. "I'm glad I left her in tears. Maybe she'll pay attention to what comes out of her mouth. I dislike about 50% of her personality."
The roommates come together at Pineapple Gallery to decorate and prep for their grand opening. Tyler and Svetlana patch things up. They apologize to one another and realize that they both need to mind what they say or how they make comments to one another.
Tyler and Svetlana bond during a very inviting bubble bath. It would have been a wee more entertaining if Tyler was straight. Somehow Svetlana experienced close encounters of the 3rd kind (if you know what I mean) and it was hilarious. Whatever happened to just shaking hands and walking away. Let's see how long this cease fire between these two lasts.
