Skating With Celebrites: Finale
The Home Wrecker vs. The Hoe

Recap By Allie Axel
March 3, 2006
The finale is finally here. It has been dubbed on some figure skating boards as "the Home wrecker vs. the Hoe" which I find incredibly funny. My first thought is how are they going to fill an hour? I prepare myself for an agonizing hour of fluff just so I can see a few minutes of real skating.

We are told John and Jillian opened the last show with the most difficult program they have ever done. Kristy and Lloyd have a very romantic routine. Commentary from Jillian tells us this is an incredible challenge and she wants it to be the best. John tells us he will give it his all. Kristy says she's always been competitive. Lloyd says it is difficult to be at the top since the only way to go is down.

I am told I am in store for a special treat; an encore of each of the teams favorite programs. So that answers my question on how they are going to fill an hour of air time. John and Jillian are up first. We are told it is expected that John, but not Jillian to be so determined. They became early favorites after show 1. In shows 2 and 3 they were still skating well but so were the other teams. This pushed them to work harder which sent Jillian to the hospital. However, they got it together enough to come back with the best scores of the competition. The team continued to contend with Jillian's schedule and bruises. In show 5 they were dangerously close to being eliminated.

They repeat their performance to "Trouble". I need to admit it was hard focusing on this program after seeing John in a sleeveless t-shirt. Wow, he has some great muscles!!! After the prerequisite dancing fluff, John flips Jillian up over his shoulder to a lift. They do some lunge turns and she cartwheels over his back. They then do side-by-side stag jumps into flip jumps. Next comes a pair spin: she does a back camel and he does a back sit. Some footwork and then John lifts Jillian while she's doing waltz jumps. Their move is an overhead lift in which Jillian forms a "T" with John and he spins her.

Next we get an extra long commercial segment and then back with Summer talking about how Kristy and Lloyd spent most of the competition on this ice, twice they were on the verge of being eliminated. On the first day they met, they discovered an obstacle; they spin differently. They received the lowest scores in the first show and went back to work to increase the difficulty of their programs. They came back so as not to be eliminated, but the next show they had 2 costly mistakes, which almost sent them home again. They then found the magic with the next show and went back to work with a lighter attitude. Kristy comments that Lloyd is like a big brother (ewwwww). They came back in the last episode with the highest scores of the competition. Lloyd comments again that it is easier getting to the top than staying there.

They repeat their program to "The Greatest Fan of Your Life", starting with a cradle lift right into another lift in which Lloyd spins a bit. They then perform a pair spiral (Lloyd made an obvious effort to lift his leg to match Kristy's). Kristy continues to spiral which Lloyd pulls her across the ice. They spin facing each other and each grabs the other leg, which is held up in front (on an angle) to their body. This is one of my favorite spins of this competition. Then they do waltz three-turns into a throw waltz jump, side-by-side toe loops and the Lloyd flips Kristy upside down and brings her to his shoulder.

Once again we get commercials. Since the two teams in the finals are on the practice rink, we get the privilege of seeing the rest of the cast skate again. Oh boy, I can't wait. Skating to "Respect", Kurt, Deborah and Jenny start off the performance with some fluff dancing. Kurt skates around into a nice triple toe loop. Then out comes Dave and Nancy who do a little skating but much more dancing. Someone really should have checked Nancy's outfit before she went out; it was not very flattering. Although she looks much better than most people who have had 2 children, there is no way her dress should have been see-through mesh by her stomach. Kurt follows up with some of his famous fancy footwork and then out comes Todd who dances and does a two-foot spin. They whole cast gets into line and they do a really good pinwheel and dancing and we are back to commercials.

It is finally time for the.....
