Rock Star - Supernova: A Week Of Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Photo Scoreboard and Rankings as of August 3, 2006

This was a week filled with ch-ch-ch-changes. Storm Large provided last week's encore performance and this week's setting of the stage for the need for changes. She set sail again with evidence of performance savvy with her choice of song and delivery. Storm dressed in a simple black suit, sang David Bowie's classic tune, "Changes" and brought to the forefront the necessity of changing it up.
Patrice Pike did an amazing performance with Tommy Lee, man, it is sad how temporarily forgot how amazing he is on drums. Pike showed she could hang, it took a pair of brass balls to go out with Tommy Lee. Sadly, she also confirmed her somewhat limited vocal range.
Lukas, last night, delivered his worst performance of the competition. It was border line awful. During the elimination show tonight, he exhibited recognition for his need for ch-ch-ch-changes. I think all of who watched him that are fans, were in shock. The elimination night, "behind the scenes" footage, had him intelligently acknowledging his mistakes and realizing his errors. He took manly responsibility for his failings; I was greatly impressed with his attitude. I was also pleased to see he is not so much of an egomaniac to not realize when he may be in error. He remains one of my favorites to win this, but in this week's scoreboard, I must put him in the lower tiers. It is only fair.
Ryan Star gave a stellar performance this week and not surprisingly received the encore nod. His piano performance earned him the encore spot. Now if he could just grow a few manners and refrain from being taped calling the female contestants names, it might help his cause a small bit.
Sad to say my 'dark horse' darling, Dana Andrews says goodbye tonight. I must say I was surprised to see her go at this juncture. I attribute that to her youth and inexperience. (The blurting out about the tattoo last night did not help her.) It's a shame, I think that Newsted felt that way too; he may have been out-voted. Dana had a lot to offer, but she was a long shot, and apparently did not show to T. Lee and Gilby that she could make it in the stretch.
Yes, it was a turbulent week racked with ch-ch-ch-changes.

Storm
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 3
Storm Large deserves top running this week for two reasons, one, she had encore last week, two, she served up the message: ch-ch-ch-changes. Her rendition of David Bowie's song, "Changes" was delivered in a classy, semi-acoustic format. She enunciated her words eloquently and did not wild-mare roll her eyeballs. I thank her for that and applaud her performance savvy and intelligence. Her performance was a stroke of true brilliance. Her vocals were outstanding; she will prove to be one of the last ones standing in this competition.

Dilana
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 2
Dilana performed Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough", she was fierce, on fire, called "Genius" by Gilby and the guys for going through the audience, getting the fans excited and then ending up in front of Supernova. Gilby thought it gave him an 'idea' of what she'd be like fronting them.

|
Magni
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 6
Magni is missing his son and wife and footage was shown of them. Supernova decided to bring his family to him and fly them in which was completely and magnificently compassionate. I thought Magni's initial foray into Coldplay's "Clocks" was a bit missing, but he compensated and brought the song home in a big way. This man has vocal talent; I can tell the band likes him too.

Ryan
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 9
Ryan Star's star shone brightly this week,. In an aside to Mr. Star: watching the weekly "behind the scenes" footage, week after week, as you verbally abuse one or another of the gal contestants; resorting to calling them "bitches", and generally undermining them verbally, does nothing to promote your image. No matter how well you might perform that week, if you look like a louse it won't bode well in the long haul. Re-think how you come across to the public because that affects the band you're playing frontman for...just a thought. Great performance though, this week.

Zayra
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 10
Zayra Alvarez, hot stuff chica; loved the cape and leopard print outfit. Most importantly I loved her bravery, her determination. Words to describe Zayra: brave, fierce, courageous, avant-garde, dramatic, unique, sexy. She performed Tommy Tutone's famous hit "8675309" and I loved it. It took the guys 6 minutes to come to their collective senses to opine over it. Great job this week, mi hermana!

|
Lukas
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 1
Lukas Rossi, babe, wow, was that you? Huge disappointment this week. Talk about a fall from grace; this "dark angel" spiraled out of control. Word out - this competition is his to lose. I think it was the Hole song, "Celebrity Skin". (Now...here will enter the Courtney Love fans...screeching, because I have no love for Love.) Lukas, looked Lost and in a Black Hole. We're all allowed a bad night/day now and then, Gawd knows I've had my share of "f**ck ups" and bad episodes... Perhaps Lukas is just setting up something completely amazing for the next week. (Tip; Mr. Rossi - dye your hair darlin' really, do it...)

Patrice
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 8
Well, what can I say, she has a big voice. She also had the "lady-brass-balls" to stand up to the challenge of performing in front of Tommy Lee's drums. I still am not feeling Supernova, ma chere, for you - I am sorry.

|
Toby
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 5
Toby Rand, he's the hot guy from down-under, but on the performance front, well, not so hot. A copy-cat performance of Dilana, made more so since he followed her tonight. Toby needs to get original (not aboriginal) and put something out next week to make us want to really love him.
|
|
Josh
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: 11
Josh Logan. I have been rather harsh in my assessments. This week Josh brought out an absolute great performance, my favorite performance Josh has done on Supernova. Just Brilliant. Great style and sound. Josh, though and Supernova, again I must say no, not so much. Josh has talent, just not the right talent for this band.
|
|
Jill
Current Ranking: 10 - Previous Ranking: 7
Jill's come on antics turned Gilby off. Jill needs to chill and let It happen. Gilby took offense to her 'grinding' him on stage, notably due to the fact he's a happily married man and his wife may have not liked what she saw. He stressed repeatedly that he thought it cheap and inappropriate. I don't see Jill fronting the guys with actions like she displayed.

|
Dana
5th Elimination
My "dark horse" races out of the competition tonight. My baby girl says 'good-bye'. I am indeed sad about that; Dana had so much to offer. Reality scope and persepctive, though, she was just too young for these guys, I will miss her.
|
|
Phil
4th Elimination
Phill scored well last week with Jefferson Airplane's " White Rabbit", but this week's Wallflower song put him out. He was not made to front this band, and his head jerking move that he does finally got on the band's nerves - Phil gets the head jerk from the band - to leave.

|
Jenny
3rd Elimination
I knew all along she was not meant for this band and these guys. Lilith Fair an accurate assessment. She handled her exit with grace. I hope she was not inferring that she's not meant for a musical career when she said this was an eye opening and learning experience for her, "the best slap in the face I ever had". She is talented and reminds me of Sheryl Crow. She's just not Supernova.

|
Chris
2nd Elimination
I might really be very wrong about this guy, but I don't think I am. He is ex-jock trying to be Rockstar if I ever saw one, and baby this gal has been eyewitness to plenty of those type of guys. Lots of fun, cute, but talent? Not so much.

|
Matt
1st Elimination
He is talented, but just not right for the band; just way too "Goo Goo Dolls". ...................................................................
