Episode 6 Recap by Professor Dan
October 20, 2006
After we see a recap of the last show, in which Stephannie got the boot but Cristina had to listen to Adam say how annoying she was, we come in on Raro on Night 14, after the TC.

Cristina is not happy, and she and Adam continue to argue about it. Brad tells us, "She’s not used to people telling her what to do." Cristina, meanwhile, informs us that "I’m gonna stick my head up high still." She says she’s survived a lot in her life, and "I’m gonna survive this." Uh-oh… anybody wanta bet that Cristina is toast?

After the opening and the commercial, it’s Day 15 over at Aitu, and Jonathan is in the boat while fisherman extraordinary Ozzy does his thing. He tells us he can catch 10 fish in an hour. Jonathan says the "kid’s like an otter or something", and that Ozzy can hold his breath for 2 ½ minutes. Jon says "We need his strength for the group to move forward, but as an individual threat, he’s the biggest threat." If the Merge came, he says, he wouldn’t want Ozzy around.

Treemail! They will get their first feast! Yul notices, though, that there’s no mention of Immunity. Hmmm…

Cao Boi gets into an argument with Jonathan, because Cao Boi wants to bring the Immunity Idol with them to every Challenge. "He’s our extra member," he says. Jonathan sees bringing the Idol along to a Reward Challenge as "sticking it in (the other tribe’s) face." Privately, Jonathan tells us that Cao Boi is "rubbing some people the wrong way." Yul tells us that Cao Boi is "just an unpredictable guy." Uh-oh…

Reward Challenge: This one, Jeff tells them, will be physical. Each tribe will choose 3 members, each of whom will wrap their arms and legs around a vertical post that looks like a ship’s mast. Two members of the opposing tribe will race over and try to pull them off the post and drag them through the sand to their finish line. Once that person is forced across the line, two other tribe members will race to bring back the next person, and so on, until all three members of the opposing tribe have been dragged across. The Reward is indeed a feast of sorts (lamb shanks, bread, and apple cider), but as Jeff tells them, there’s good news and bad news, because the winners will be eating their feast at Tribal Council. Yep, it’s the infamous double Tribal Council, where the winners get to vote someone out anyway, then go over to the Jury area and chow down as they eavesdrop on the loser’s Tribal Council.

Is there anybody else who thinks that double Tribal Councils blow? I think it’s just so unfair that someone has to leave without their tribe losing an Immunity Challenge. I know that with extra people, they need to do this kind of crap to finish the show on time, but it still blows. Go back to 16 people, Burnett, and run the damn show right—no back-to-back Tribals, no double Tribals.

Anyway, Aitu has to sit out someone, and it has to be a man to even up the genders, so Cao Boi sits out. For Aitu the people on the posts will be Candice, Ozzy, and Sundra. For Raro it’ll be Cristina, Nate, and Jenny. Evidently only women may go after women, and men after men, so the women will be carrying the load here. Becky and Jessica race out to go after Jenny, while Parvati and Rebecca take on Candice. And Candice is double-tough! They cannot pry her off that post. When they do get her off momentarily, she lunges and grabs hold again. Meanwhile, Becky and Jessica have better luck with Jenny—she fights hard, but they finally manage to get her across their finish line. But Candice is still holding on! Jonathan and Yul race out after Nate. Nate is a fighter, too, but Jonathan and Yul are too much for him, and they soon bring him to their finish line. But Candice is STILL fighting! They’ve finally gotten her away from the post, but she’s not across the finish line yet, so Raro still hasn’t gotten Aitu’s first person to the finish! Becky and Jessica race back out to get Cristina, the last Raro member. FINALLY Candice is dragged across, and Adam and Brad go very aggressively after the much smaller Ozzy.

Meanwhile, Cristina is being choked by Jessica, who gets a warning from Jeff. Cristina retaliates, pressing her forearm to Jessica’s throat while telling her "Stay away from my neck." Jeff warns her too. Finally Ozzy is dragged over, and Parvati and Rebecca run back out after Sundra. Cristina is still fighting hard, pulling Jessica’s hair and almost pulling her pants down! For Aitu, Sundra holds tight, and a tired Parvati and Rebecca can’t budge her. At last, Cristina is dragged across the finish line! Aitu wins!

Afterwards, the castaways are exhausted, and Ozzy has some livid scratches on his neck. Jeff tells them there will be "one more surprise at Tribal Council" that night, and sends them on their way.

At Aitu, the feeling is jubilant: Sundra gushes to us "I was so PROUD of the tribe today at the Challenge!" Jessica is kind of tickled that she got to "wrestle a cop", but says she thought Cristina’s hair-pulling and attempted de-pantsing were "a little uncalled-for."

Back at camp, Cao Boi tells Yul.....
