Episode 7 Recap and Commentary By Cari C.

Last week on The Amazing Race, Mary and David who were marked for elimination made it with a little help from their friends. Each week I grow to love Mary and David more and more. I love that they think friendship is more important than the money.
I love that they think friendship is more important than the money. In reality television where cut throat tactics are an everyday occurrence, it is nice to see genuinely nice people. I know in the end this is a race and someone has to lose but I like the fact that the at least a couple of teams won't throw each other under a bus to reach the end. Of course I know kindness will ultimately cost them the game but it is still refreshing to see something different each week.
This week Mary and David are the first team to head out. After winning the fast forward they got to go to the Pit Stop a lot earlier than the other teams so they get to depart at 12:37 am over three hours earlier than the others. They receive the clue and learn that they are flying 4600 miles to the Island of Mauritius. I loved hearing each team trying to pronounce where they were going. Once there each team will have to find the marked cars. Inside they will find their next clue. Mary and David head to the airport. Once there they book tickets on the fastest flight to Mauritius. It will leave around 8:00 am and will take them to Mauritius thru London. They will arrive on the Island at 6:50 am the next day. After being assured that this is the fastest flight they book their tickets.
At 3:40 am the Beauty Queens depart the Pit Stop. As they head for the airport, Rob and Kim get the okay to leave at 3:53 am. The Beauty Queens arrive at the airport and go in to purchase tickets. At the ticket counter they try to argue with the people after being told that a flight thru London is their best bet. They don't understand why they would go from Kuwait to London and then back down to Mauritius. They decide that everyone inside the ticket booth are idiots and decide to find some smarter people. As they search for someone as bright as they are, Rob and Kim arrive at the airport and run into Mary and David. They try to get them to help them out but Mary and David are having none of it. As David explains, Rob and Kim are only nice to people when they want something. Rob and Kim storm off mumbling about how much they hate Mary and David. They find a booth and end up with tickets on the same flight as Mary and David.
At 4:10 am Alabama leaves the Pit Stop. The brothers are right behind them at 4:18. Both teams head to the airport and as each arrives they are welcomed by Mary and David who tell them exactly where to go. While the six pack heads to the ticket booth, the Beauty Queens are still not sure what to do about this whole going thru London thing. Finally they realize it is the only way and go to the closest booth to purchase tickets. Unfortunately for Alabama it just happens to be the same booth that they are going to. Meanwhile back at the Pit Stop Tyler and James depart at 4:55 am. They head for the airport and make it to the same booth at the same time as the Beauty Queens. The Queens offer to purchase tickets for the guys and this sets Karlyn off. Now I will admit that Karlyn is not the friendliest racer ever but let's face it the Beauty Queens are just being mean. Rob and Kim, Tyler and James, and the Beauty Queens all swear they hate alliances and don't like the six pack. Personally I think their jealous. All three teams have tried to follow other teams or use them for information on more than one occasion. I love how they refuse to admit it though.
While the ladies drama begins to erupt, the brothers meanwhile have found a nice drama free ticket booth. They purchase tickets on the same flight as Mary and David and go to wait. In the drama booth, Karlyn and the Beauty Queens continue to bicker back and forth. I feel sorry for the ticket guy. Tyler and James of course egg them on and make it worse. In the end, the Queens get tickets for the models and leave Karlyn. She ends up purchasing tickets but not before she tells the ticket guy that he hopes he can live with what he did. I have a feeling he will live with it just fine. Around 8 am all teams board the same flight and depart for the lovely Island of Mauritius. I bet that was a fun plane ride.
Once in Mauritius the teams all race to find the marked cars. Tyler and James are the first to locate the cars. Inside they find a model of a ship. Teams must now figure out that this model is an actual ship anchored in the waters of Grand Baie. They will need to find it and once there they will have to swim out to it and get their next clue. Tyler and James head out as the other teams begin arriving at the cars. Soon all the teams have found the cars. Some teams immediately stop for directions while others decide to stop on the road. Tyler and James once again get lost. I swear these two have no sense of direction. Alabama is the first team to figure out where to go. They arrive first but are confused about where to park. Their confusion allows the other teams to catch up. They all find better parking places and head to the water. Well every team except Tyler and James, they're still lost.
All the teams get changed and head.....
