The Amazing Race 11 - Romber's Gone And I'm Glad

Episode 4 Recap by Cari C.
March 12, 2007
Last week on The Amazing Race All-Stars I was sad to see Mary and David go home. It wasn't unexpected but still it was sad. All week long CBS has been hyping the last five minutes of the show. I have a feeling it will have something to do with Romber and Charla and Mirna. Of course it could be just another week but you never know. Could it be, will Romber be gone after tonight?

Last week Romber once again won the leg. Am I the only person who would like to see them fall a few pegs? This week Romber gets to depart first again. This time they depart at 6:11 am. Teams must fly 800 miles to the city of Punta Arenas, Chile. When they land, teams will travel 15 miles by taxi to Lord Lawnsdale's shipwreck. They head out to the airport. At 6:26 am Uchenna and Joyce depart followed at 6:28 am by Eric and Danielle. The two teams race to catch up to Romber. Of course Romber arrives at the airport and gets tickets on the fastest flight out. The flight leaves at 9:40 am and doesn't have a lot of seats. With their tickets in hand, Romber heads to find a computer with Internet so they can figure out where the shipwreck is. While looking they begin to think that the shipwreck is not really a place but a painting. Could this be there downfall?

Back at the Pit Stop, the Queens head out at 6:48 am. Danny and Oswald follow close behind at 6:51 am. In the car they disclose that Kandice is a huge snorer. While they discuss the snoring habits of the Queens, Teri and Ian depart the Pit Stop at 6:53 am. At the airport Uchenna and Joyce and Eric and Danielle arrive and get tickets on the 9:40 flight. With very few seat left, the Queens and Danny and Oswald are lucky to get on the flight. Back at the Pit Stop, the last two teams head out. With departure times of 8:05 (Joe and Bill) and 8:11 (Charla and Mirna) these two teams are in trouble. Teri and Ian aren't fairing much better. They arrived at the airport and are told that the 9:40 flight is full. They beg their way into getting onto the flight. That just leaves Charla and Mirna and Joe and Bill on the second flight departing at 11:15 am.

Mirna adjusts for "shortcomings".
The first flight departs and arrives in Punta Arenas at 11:50 am. All the teams race to find the shipwreck. Romber is the first team to arrive but Danny and Oswald are right behind. They grab the clue which is a Detour. In this Detour teams must choose between two tasks tied to one of Punta Arenas most famous visitors, the explorer Ferdinand Magellan: Navigate It or Sign It. In Navigate It, teams must use the map provided to get to the town plaza where they will locate a sailor who will give them a compass. They must then use the compass to head south and find the Nautilus building to get their next clue. In Sign It, teams must choose a pole and a set of building supplies and bring them up the stairs. Using a map from Magellan's voyage as a reference they must figure out that his voyage began and ended in Seville. Beginning with Seville they will have to build a traditional local sign post listing in order the 14 points of call from his voyage around the world. The cities must be spelled correctly. When they finish teams will get the next clue.

Romber chooses to do the sign while Danny and Oswald choose to navigate the city. As the two teams head in the direction of their Detour, other teams arrive. Uchenna and Joyce arrive next and choose do make the sign as do the Queens. Eric and Danielle and Teri and Ian follow Danny and Oswald. I think the people who chose the sign Detour made a huge mistake. The navigators have little trouble finding the plaza, the sailor, or the Nautilus building. Eric and Danielle end up their first and grab the next clue. Teams must now head back to the airport and sign up for one of two charter planes that depart three hours apart. Teams will then fly 165 miles to the city of Ushuaia, Argentina and make their way to Playa Larga beach. There they will find the next clue. Eric and Danielle head off just as Danny and Oswald arrive.

Back at the signs, the teams are having.....
