The Amazing Race 8: Episode 3
The Bus Ride from Hell
Recap by Cari C.

Could someone please explain the Weaver family to me? You know you are really bad when the most dysfunctional family on the show thinks your family is crazy. When Mama Paolo thinks you are a drama queen, then you have a problem. At some point last night I think Linda Weaver lost it and I don't think she is going to get it back. I had high hopes that her newfound insanity might bring an end to this team but we will have to wait until next week for that.
Speaking of the Weavers, since they were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop at 2:26 pm they will be the first to depart at 2:26 am. Teams must now fly 500 miles to Charleston, South Carolina. When they land they must choose one of the marked cars and drive themselves into the historic area of Charleston known as the Battery. Here in the Gazebo they will find the next clue. The Weavers depart for Dulles airport to find the earliest flight.
The other teams depart at the following times:
Linz: 2:27 am
Godlewski: 2:29 am
Schroeder: 2:35 am
Aiello: 2:37 am
Bransen: 2:38 am
Gaghan: 2:43 am
Paolo: 3:05 am
On the way to the airport some of the families like the Bransens use the time to borrow cell phones and try to find flights. Other families, namely the Paolo family, use the time to argue. Of course the Weaver family uses the time to once again show us how dense they are. After missing the exit, Linda decides to back up on the interstate and get back to the exit.
The Linz's are the first to arrive at the airport and they get tickets on the 1st flight to Charleston. It arrives in Charleston at 10:04 am. Other teams arrive and race in to get tickets. The Weavers, the sisters, and the Schroeders all make it on the first flight. The Aiellos and Bransens arrive next but only the Aiellos make it on the first flight. The Bransens are told there are no more tickets on the first flight so they get seats on the second flight, which arrives in Charleston at 10: 38 am. The Gaghans and Paolos also get tickets on the second flight.
As the teams wait for their flights, Linda Weaver decides to go ask some questions. On camera she tells us she just wants to get as much information as possible but you know she is just trying to find a better flight. As she walks away, one of the Aiello boys asks if she found a better flight. Now I know this is a game and if I found a better flight I would not tell anyone but to just walk off and ignore people is just rude. Apparently the Weaver family has made no friends. Everyone refers to them as team Florida and they all agree they don't care for them.
As the teams wait for flights, it appears Rolly Weaver and Hunter Schroeder are making friends. Char Schroeder is not happy about it but apparently Hunter doesn't care. He calls her a bitch and keeps talking to Rolly. Char says that from now he will have to be left out of all strategy talk.
Finally the first plane boards and the first set of teams are in the air. Back the airport, the Paolo family uses their down time to argue yet again. This time it is over getting a map. Boy does this family need some counseling. Soon it is time for the second plane to board so the Paolo family just moves their anger and resentment to the plane.
All teams are now making their way to the state I reside in. If you have never been to Charleston I highly recommend it. It is a lovely city. The first plane arrives at 10:04 am and the teams get in marked cars and head out to try and find the Gazebo. Apparently while on the plane Mark Schroeder has renamed the Weavers team Fruit loop. I can only imagine what it must be like to be stuck on a plane with them.
As the first teams head towards.....
