So who else is happy that TAR moved to Wednesday? Finally someone at CBS is listening. I like that I don't have to stay up late to watch one of my favorites. I was hoping since one of my wishes came true maybe another would. Alas, this episode was not much better than the last few.
Tonight my hippies who were the first to arrive at 2:29 pm they will be the first to depart 2:29 am. Teams must drive 135 miles to the city of Catania. Once there they will search for Anfiteatro Romano. Hidden among the ruins is the next clue. They will have sixty-three dollars for this leg of the race. My hippies head out.
At 4:11 am the frat boys depart followed by MoJo at 5:00 am and Fran and Berry at 5:18. All three teams head for Catania. In Catania the hippies arrive and find the ruins only to discover that it doesn't open until 8:30 am. The two decide to leave an "official" sign on the door telling the other teams to sign up in the order they arrive. With their sign posted the two teams head to the car to get some sleep.
Back at the Pit Stop, Lake and Michelle head out at 6:06 followed by Lori and Dave at 6:25 and Ray and Yolanda at 6:34. All teams are now on their way to Catania. Of the remaining teams, Eric and Jeremy are the first to arrive at the ruins. They discover the "official" sign and for a minute they actually believe it. The hippies think the whole thing is hilarious. Both teams are now waiting to get inside.
On the road Fran and Berry have gotten lost. I don't really think their lost I think they are just a little confused by the roads and the traffic. At 8:30 the gates at the ruins open and all four guys race in. The frat boys are the first to find the clue box. Teams must now go out and count the heads on the fence posts surrounding the amphitheater. Once they have the number they go back inside and search the grounds for the groundskeeper. Once they find him they must tell him the number and if it is correct they will get the next clue. The frat boys head out with the hippies right on their heels.
Both teams head out and begin counting. Both teams get the number 41 and head back inside to find the groundskeeper. The frat boys are the first to find the groundskeeper so they receive the first clue, which is a Detour. A Detour is a choice between two tasks. In this Detour teams must choose between two tasks common in this port town, Big Fish or Little Fish.
In Big Fish teams must make their way on foot to a local street vendor where they will each pick up a 32 pound swordfish. Each team must then carry the fish while they navigate a third of a mile to the storico la peschena market. There they must find Jaquino a local fish vendor. They must turn over their fish to get the next clue. In Little Fish teams must go to the same market and take over a store. They must then sell four kilos of a small Sicilian fish. After they have sold the four kilos the vendor will give them their next clue. Both teams decide to carry some swordfish.
On the road Fran and Berry are still lost in traffic along with Lake and Michelle, Lori and Dave, and Ray and Yolanda. MoJo meanwhile has missed the traffic and arrives at the ruins first. They find the clue and head out to count heads. While they count heads, the boys have gotten their fish and are on their way to the market. Both teams arrive at the market with little trouble and both teams receive the next clue. Teams must now drive more than 40 miles to the city of Siracusa and find Ponte Um Combrino. It is here they will find their next clue. Both teams head off in what I think is going to be a very close race.
