The show begins right where it left off last week. Team Genius was inside the hidden chamber searching for the clue. Teams Air Force and Southie Boys are still on the hunt for the chamber. After searching for a while, team Southie Boys find the hidden stairwell as team Geniuses are in the chamber laying on the floor. They have been inside the chamber for over 2 hours.
Team Air Forces have made it to the 2nd level of the stairwell, as Team Southie boys are right outside the door unsure of how to get inside. Team Genius can hear them from inside the chamber. Soon Air Force joins team Southie Boys and together they all make it inside the chamber. Now all three teams are within the chamber. Team Genius remark that their 2.5-hour lead is gone, as they sit in a corner within the chamber looking lost. One of team Geniuses members is asleep.
At the 5 hour and 3 minute mark, Sam of team Genius is still asleep it appears that Team Genius has given up. They are no longer communicating. Team Air Force continues to work on the clue. One of the Team Genius awakens from a slumber and grabs the cryptex from his partner's hand and puts in the letters FSKEY, which were the initials Francis Scott and the last name KEY written out. The cryptex pops open and inside was a metallic arrow, putting the arrow on the dial, they spin it, and it lands on the star symbol, and they see the star on the wall, and punch it, and smokes appears, a door opens, and the biggest baddest pile of gold is awaiting them!! Team Genius are the winners of the treasure. They get the Motorola phone message telling them they are in fact the winners, the amount of the treasure is not revealed. Team Genius reflects on their journey including almost getting booted in the very first episode. The losers hang around one another and then go into the GOLD room and congratulate the winners!!
Suddenly the show goes live; we see the host and all of the other teams that failed to find the treasure. The winners - Team Genius rush out, the host has to pull them apart as the losing teams grabs them to hug them. The big question is how much is the treasure, that answer is not revealed immediately. Instead we see lucky viewers that have an opportunity to win $100,000 by completing a very simple easy challenge.
A look back at the journey for all of the teams, the most difficult times are shown, including how the Fogals turned out to be less than trustworthy, despite the father being a man of the cloth. We see the Team Southie Boys and their numerous verbal spats, but verbal spats or not, they still beat Team Air Force to the chamber, of course without them, they would not have made it inside, but nevertheless, technically they were still 2nd place in this game.
The host asks a few questions- he asked Team Ex CIA what happened to them, they said that team member Mark did not have enough to drink, they goes on to say that they missed out on the final clue that sent them home by 3 seconds. Team Grad Students are asked what was their best moment on the show; they say when they came in second during one of the challenges. Still there is no news on the treasure amount.
The host tells the Fogals that they played the game ruthlessly, and they say they played competitively; team member Katy had nothing to say. Team Air Force say they loved the Fogals and were never 'fogaled' by them during the game, they also revealed that in the challenge when it was down to them two, the Fogals allowed them to take the victory. Team Wild Hanlons revealed that they were too busy fogaling themselves to get Fogaled by the Fogals. We are shown clips of their wild antics while they were on the show.
Back from the hundredth commercial break, just a side note, that new Geico commercial with Little Richard, ok after seeing this, it is just better that the general public just think that he is dead, all of the makeup, the crazy hand gestures, why was he resurrected to star in these commercials? It should be a crime. Still no word on the treasure amount. We are shown the time sequence of the team's journey in the chamber; they were in there over 10 hours. Finally the amount is revealed…. DUM DUM DEE DUM!!!! $3 million dollars… Congratulations Team Genius!! I knew you could do it… This was a great finale, and I was glad that the Treasure amount was substantial; it was worth the long wait and seeing Little Richard at his worse.
